Aloha Readers,

I very much hope that someday very soon that the media will be held legally and financially responsible for the hate and
division that they willfully spread. Just like the high school kids that they tried to make villains out of, they ran this hate-filled lie without even attempting to verify it.
The media and Democratic leaders were quick to jump to conclusions over the Jussie Smollet
case without any fact-checking.

   Enclosed is a sampling of what some of the left wing leaders said;
“This was an attempted modern-day lynching” - Kamala Harris
“The vicious attack on Jussie Smollett was a modern-day lynching” - Corey Booker

"This is so heartbreaking. @JussieSmollett, you are not alone  we are with you" -  Hawaii's own presidential candidate, Tulsi Gabbard
“The racist, homophobic attack on Jussie Smollett is an affront to our humanity” - Nancy Pelosi
They were all the judge, executioner, and jury.
Our country is better than this! MAGA!

Jussie will live on in infamy

Blog #2030~Kimo's world's #277

An edited version of this blog appeared
in the 02-20-19 edition of the Garden Island news!

I never heard of Jussie Smollett or even the Fox TV show 'Empire' until the alleged hate crime was reported to the police and the media by the actor himself.

By now most everyone knows what was reported, "Smollett told authorities he was attacked early January 29 by two men wearing red "MAGA hats" and who were yelling out racial and homophobic slurs." He said one attacker put a rope around his neck and poured an unknown chemical substance on him."

Now it is believed, Smollett paid two men to orchestrate an assault on him that he reported late last month. Those two men were Nigerian brothers, one of whom he knew and appeared on his TV show, Empire. The brothers are reporting they were paid $3,500 to stage the attack.
This is believed to be the first time an American was scammed by two Nigerians.
Get the picture what the left is trying to do...

I knew as soon as I read this story the first time it was a hoax. The liberal media wanted so badly to believe it was true so they could further divide and push their agenda.

Donald Trump once said, “There’s no such thing as bad publicity!”  It’s somewhat ironic that Jussie is following in the footsteps of his nemesis and adversary and seeming to be using him more as a mentor.

So much for Michelle Obama's statement of "When they go low, we go high."

This is how a failing actor who is written of a TV show gains international attention.  It’s ironic that Smollet became a household name over a blotched failed attack against President Trump and his supporters.  He needs to pay for this blotched homophobic, racist attack as if he were the perpetrator himself.
Mr. Smollett's name now lives on in infamy.

Nation's Liberals Devastated After Learning Hate Crime Didn't Actually Happen

U.S.—The nation’s liberals were struck by a devastating blow this week after finding out a hate crime, reported by Empire actor Jussie Smollet, didn’t actually happen.

“I needed this to be true,” said liberal columnist Hanna Spalding. “When I first heard the news of this attack, I was filled with so much hope. I felt so validated. Then that was taken away. Now I just want to cry into my pillow.”

The attack had been called “a modern-day lynching” by democratic presidential candidate Cory Booker but after Chicago police reported that the “trajectory of the investigation” into Smollet’s story had shifted, Smollet was stripped of his victim status. Booker became irate, phoning the Chicago police chief and shouting repeatedly, “Check it again! CHECK IT AGAIN!”

After some deep breathing exercises, Booker spoke with reporters. “How are we supposed to intentionally turn the nation against each other and exploit these divisions for political power if people won’t commit a simple hate crime once in a while?”

Candlelight vigils are being arranged in liberal cities across the country as millions mourn the loss of one of the most potentially divisive crimes in the last decade. “There was so much promise there. Now there’s just emptiness,” said one mourner in Berkley, CA.

“While Smollet’s attack may have been a hoax, our emotions have undergone a modern-day lynching,” said activist Andrea Jones at a vigil in Chicago. “If you think about it, this is even worse than if the crime had actually happened. A lot of people put a lot of hope into Smollet’s story. Our expectations have been violently assaulted. Yesterday we thought one man had been attacked. Today, our narrative is the one in a hospital bed, sucking Jell-O through a straw and fighting for its life.”

Aloha Readers,

Our friend and recently retired Kauai County Police Chief Darryl Perry was struck by a vehicle
while bicycling near the intersection of Highway 11 and Kipimana Street on the Big Island.  The incident happened on Sunday, Jan. 27 at approximately 8:30 a.m.

A vehicle was executing a left turn onto Highway 11 when it struck the bicyclist, 68-year-old Perry.

Due to serious injuries, Perry was later flown to Queen's Medical Center on Oahu.
His wife, Solette Perry,  told KHON 2 News that wearing a helmet saved his life.
Mel Rapozo on his Facebook live session last Wednesday said he
went to Queens on Oahu to visit Perry and was in good spirits.
Please send healing energies and prayers for the Chief!

No, to a minimum wage increase
Plus-Retired Kauai Police Chief Darryl Perry in serious bike accident

Blog #2029~Kimo's world's #276

Welcome to another great recession should a minimum wage proposed of $15.00 an hour become Hawaii law.  Small businesses will drop like flies, you think airfares are expensive now, just wait! Rent's, housing, in general, will be even more out of control when workers making $15 an hour now, will no longer be content if they are making what a McDonald's entry-level employee is making.

The proposed from 10.10 an hour to $15.00, a $4.90 dollar increase, that's nearly 50% higher. Imagine everything you buy being 50%  more?

Those making $15.00 an hour will then demand a 50% increase also,  increasing their hourly wage to $22.50 an hour, those making $20.00 an hour will want $30.00 an hour.

Your $1000 a month studio apartment might now cost $1500 a month.  Affordable housing (an oxymoron to begin with) is literally out of reach now, imagine affordable housing if there is a minimum wage increase?  Now imagine the 2 for $6.00 at McDonald's could be, 2 for $9.00?

The $4.99 rotisserie chicken at Costco could cost, $7.50, still reasonable, however not a great deal.

A $200 one-way airfare likely to cost $300. Gasoline, dish-washing soap, plate lunches, toilet paper, everything will increase. What's the purpose?

I saw a man on the news so excited about the increase exclaiming that he would finally be able to afford to visit his family on the Big Island. He did not take into consideration that everything will increase including airfares, taxi's, Ubers---and even throwing a few bucks to a buddy for driving you to the airport.

A minimum wage increase of the magnitude proposed will force many small businesses
to close shop and many large businesses to cut the hours of full-time employees to part-time. Everyone will want a pay increase with a minimum wage increase, not just minimum wage earners. The minimum wage increase will have a trickle-down effect.

This reminds me of the person who goes to Vegas and brags about how much money they won never telling you how much money they lost to get to the win. Similarly, I had a friend in business that bragged about how much money his business would gross in a year, however even if your gross is $350,000 and your overhead is $500,000 as was in his case, you're losing bigly!(sic) Many times less is more.

I ask our state representatives in the legislature to vote against a minimum wage increase of this magnitude and encourage everyone to think about the ramifications since what sounds like a 'Kumbaya' moment on paper is, in reality, a disaster in real life.
