Thankful for TV during the pandemic
COVID-19 takes my TV

I was watching the Today show
last Friday morning like I do every morning and out of nowhere Savannah Guthrie and Hoda Kotb disappear and my TV goes black. TV personalities during this crisis seem like friends, even though we never met.

My TV has been on the majority of the day and night the last couple of months during the quarantine and my TV has become a crutch and something
I have come to depend on. I didn't know if my cable went out? I rebooted my cable box, no luck. I tried The TV itself with my streaming devices even without cable, after numerous attempts and even a call to Spectrum, I realized my TV had died.

It seemed like my best
friend had passed away, my TV was gone, what do I do? Many of us have been dependent on our television sets the last few months while being confined to our homes and not being able to go out.

 Since I do
not drive and it is hard to bus to Walmart and Costco, I immediately went to Facebook and posted, "My TV just died- Does anyone on Kaua’i have a TV they want to sell?" I posted this on a site called, "Kauai Buy and Sell" along on my own Timeline. The response was heartwarming and reminded me of what a special place The Garden Island is.

A friend responds on my Timeline, "if you want me to get it for you from COSTCO,
I'll be your wheels." Another says, "Thank God the virus got your TV and not you!" Then the epitome of what Aloha and Kauai are all about shows up on the comments section on The 'Kauai Buy and Sell' Facebook page, "It's not a smart TV, But it works, flat screen and I think 32". You can have it if you want it!

The guy calls me,
we talk, I tell him I don't drive and he agrees to deliver it to me. I say, I must give you a little something for gas and delivery. This dude I never met, gives me a free TV that he delivers, I shot a little something for the delivery that he was hesitant to even take.
The TV connected to my Roku device, instantly making it into a smart TV, it also connected to my soundbar making it sound perfect. The TV works and looks better than my dead TV, all for free form a stranger on Kauai with Aloha. I did not stop thanking him. His words to me were, "Just trying to do right by my parents." I told him, Your parents should be proud! The Aloha spirit lives on through you and I will pay it forward.

Lucky we live Kauai and thank God we have TV during this pandemic! Most important, the people and the Aloha spirit are for real! Now to go see my best friends on Hawaii News Now, Hawaii's Most watched news with 15-Emmys, 29-AP Awards, and 33- Murrows ...
