"As we approach Halloween quickly and dream of Thanksgiving and all the great smells that lie ahead..."

One of the best times of the  year is quickly approaching in New York, Fall, or Autumn, or the precursor to Winter. It is one of the best times of the year for us, the earth is starting its preparation for winter.  Leaves are slowly beginning to change and  fall, and the air is cold and crisp in the morning.  Pumpkins and cider  Are being sold everywhere, hay rides are offered at the farms and bushels of apples can be found in every store just ready to make applesauce with or pies . In a way, a sadness is in the air as well because we know what’s about to happen…the white stuff can fly though the air at any minute…snow.
We know in Buffalo that all too often today can be a sunny, semi-warm day only to wake up to the cold blowing snow the next,  at this time of year.  We try and trick our selves  at this time of year, telling ourselves that this will be a mild winter and maybe there  won’t be much snow; we just don’t learn.

When you choose to live in this part of the country, it’s inevitable.  Winter has never let us down yet.
So as I enjoy the fresh smell of Fall, knit a new scarf for the winter and cover my out of  door  bushes so the deer don’t get too carried away this year, I will reminisce about what a wonderfully warm summer we just had, all the trips and enjoyable things that happened this year, and batten down the hatches for another cold season that just lies ahead.

As we approach Halloween quickly and dream of Thanksgiving and all the great smells that lie ahead, I can only hope we don’t get snow for these up in coming holidays;  nature has tricked us before.
