eBay and Amazon, Such a DeaL..!" 'James "Kimo" Rosen' (Kimo's world #100)

James "Kimo" Rosen is a retired professional photographer
and amongst other things lived in a tent outdoors for 7 years.
Rosen currently resides on the tropical island of Kaua'i
with his best friend and spiritual adviser Obama Da Dog!

eBay and Amazon, Such a Deal
Happy Holidays to all!

I don't care if out of frustration you utter one of the many words  that are politically incorrect.

I don't care what stores are opened or closed on Thanksgiving or Christmas.

I don't care if you say Merry Christmas or Happy Holidays.

Who cares about Black Friday or Cyber Monday?

Shopping is now  available 24-7. You can buy any item from toilet paper to diamond rings on eBay and Amazon. The prices are great year round.  You don't need to leave home. No gas, no wear and tear on your vehicle, no traffic--bargain shopping right  from your couch while watching anything from  reality TV to Football.

I recently bought a selfie stick of eBay for $3.89 including freight delivered to my door on the remote island of Kauai. That is the normal everyday price. Just freight alone on most items would cost more than that.

Here's the link for the selfie stick should you need one. I highly recommend it to anyone with  an iPhone type device;
http://www.ebay.com/itm/361363911369

I do care for bargains and everyday has become  a shoppers paradise.
I do care that my friends do not get ripped off, therefore let me say;
"So long Black Friday, Cyber Monday and Green Tuesday."

Many stores have extended Black Friday to Saturday, give me a break.

eBay and Amazon, such a deal!

"Two Nuns a painting..." 'Chester "Unc" Lau' (Source)~ Please note Judith Whitehead is off today~

Dakinetalk's favorite Uncle (Chester Lau)
"Unc"  is really passionate about creating a national Caregivers day.
Any help , support or ideas would be greatly appreciated...
'Unc' currently resides on the Hawai'ian Island of Oahu.
He is a retired cinematographer,
and  enjoys giving the politicians a bad time...
"I am PRO-CHOICE ON EVERYTHING WITH RESPONSIBILITY..."

Two Nuns a painting

Two nuns are ordered to paint a room in the convent, with a warning from the Mother Superior not to get even a drop of paint on their habits, which are costly to replace.
"Unc" as a young man
serving our great nation
in the Korean war...

After conferring about this, the two nuns decide to lock the door of the room, strip off their habits, and paint naked.

In the middle of the project, there's a knock at the door."Who is it ?" calls one of the nuns.

"Blind man," replies a voice from the other side of the door.

The two nuns look at each other and shrug, both deciding that no harm can come from letting a blind man into the room. They open the door.

"Nice boobs," says the man. "Where do you want the blinds ?"

field of medicine for over 30 years

Reflections and a Happy Thanksgiving

I reflect on the past year and what we are thankful for.

This will be the first Thanksgiving that we will not celebrate with my dear dad that passed away this past Spring.  He loved a good plate of stuffing and fresh turkey and leftovers for the next day.

We still will spend our feast with dear family and friends that are our family and enjoy the fact that we will be together once again as we have celebrated for longer than I can remember.

Judy  with friends and family
being thankful for the food and
each other...

Once again we are all fortunate that we have our health and good fortune to be together and will eat turkey and fixings until we can hardly move, it's the gathering that counts even more than the turkey.

WISHING EVERYONE A HAPPY HEALTHY  HOLIDAY SEASON FILLED WITH GOOD HEALTH AND HAPPINESS FOR THE COMING YEAR!!!

P.S.
It was Thanksgiving day 2011 dakinetalk blog originally ran the enclosed heartwarming story of my friend Shirili Green whom was dying of cancer. Shrirli has since passed away, however  every Thanksgiving I like to remember this beautiful and brave soul with her touching blog. Please note that  that Shirili passed away on June 17,2013.

LET’S TALK TURKEY

Happy Thanksgiving. My name's Arabella. I'm six years old and very beautiful. My two legs are long and slender, my eyes are bright, I can purr like a cat. And I have the sweetest disposition in the world.  So I'm told.

It's easy to have a sweet disposition if you live in a loving family. Which I do. So many of us. So different. As different as the night sky from the day sky, the highest mountain from the deepest sea. We share. We care. We enjoy each other's company. We talk a lot, each in a different way, but we've learned to understand each other.

Sometimes, when it's raining, we sit hunched in a bunch and watch water--drops of water big and small, fast and slow--drip and drizzle and  fall from the sky like it was never going to end. Occasionally a flash of brilliance bursts with a startle and the sound that follows curves the air.  Overhead a cloudy wet  gray blanket smothers us tight,  and we think what it would be like if we never saw blue again. Dreary, I think, but I think most of us could adapt. We've been at it for a long long time. Adapting. Learning to live with the elements. Evolving from this to that. Changing.

We are the stuff stars are made of. You, too.

Eventually the sun  comes out. Warm and welcome.  Long legged trees grow longer taller. Green and gold and purple mountains in the distance  grow high before our eyes. And clouds. All that blankety blank gray stuff has morphed into delightfully soft puffy and fluffy stuff that soars and sways and wanders away. Disappears sometimes. Sky high. Free. I think it likes it up there. And the earth around us smells so fresh and clean we soak it in like the fragrance of  flowers blooming.  It's just had a bath. It's happy.  Birds sing and call to each other. And it never ends. Until the next rains come. Which they always do.

Just like you, me and my family love to eat. We all love cookies. Sometimes they come in a box, sometimes they emerge from an oven in a pan. Everyone's happy when his belly is full.

The oldest member  of our family is a human. Just like you. He's tall. Not too tall. Slender. Long legged. Beautiful, just like me. He talks to us a lot, that's how we learn so much. We understand every word he say, sometimes we pay no heed, but he doesn't understand us. So strange. I think he thinks we can't think. Sad, kind'a. But I'll bet he knows we love him. Love is beyond words.

We've all been around much longer than he. I'm a turkey and my roots go back 65 million years. I'm  a saurischian dinosaur, like Apatosaurus, Tyrannosaurus Rex, and Velociraptor. He's only been around for 200,000 years. We've learned so much. We wish he had, too. I'll be here next year. Happy Thanksgiving.

"America divided on the exodus of Syrian Refugees..." 'Walter Lewis' (Special to dakinetalk)

Please welcome our newest guest-blogger, Mr. Walter Lewis,
“Walter  Lewis, a retired lawyer and former columnist
who resides in Lihu'e Hawai'i”
America divided on the exodus of Syrian Refugees

The exodus of Syrians from their country  in response to the dual threats of brutality of the Assad regime and the depravity of the ISIS caliphate has been huge. Over ten percent of the population has now fled the country. The humanitarian appeal for the plight of thee refugees is strong. Quite a number of articles and letters have appeared in our local paper soliciting approval of President Obama's call for allowing up to 250,000 people to immigrate to America.

The compassionate appeal is consistent with America's history. But today there are other factors that need to be considered.. In the past America has taken refugees from lands with depressed conditions. But never from a terrorist controlled  land  at war with us and threatening to bring death and destruction to our people. Because of the chaotic conditions in Syria, as American officials have confirmed, it is next to impossible to perform accurate vetting of the refugees  to try to assure that they are not being infiltrated by terrorist sympathizers who would be dangerous to our security.

Consistent with a poll of American voters which showed that a clear majority of Americans do not want to accept the Syrian refugees without assurance of their non-terrorist status the House adopted a Bill, with more than a quarter of Democrats in support calling for a deferral to the immigration sought by the President.
Bloomberg Politics Poll: Most Americans Oppose Syrian Refugee Resettlement
http://www.bloomberg.com/politics/articles/2015-11-18/bloomberg-poll-most-americans-oppose-syrian-refugee-resettlement
As usual it is better to take a second look at a cause that has inherent emotional appeal and evaluate objectively the risks which are involved.

"Never talk religion or politics... 'James "Kimo" Rosen' (Kimo's world #99)

James "Kimo" Rosen was one of the last people
in America without a cell phone.
Rosen currently talks to 'Siri' (not Syria) on a regular basis.
Rosen  lives with his best friend
and spiritual advisor Obama  Da Dog
on the cosmic Garden Island of Kauai...

Never talk  religion or politics

Whenever you have a political opinion and post on Facebook be prepared for   a backlash and  barrage from the people on your friend list who may happen to  disagree.

Last week I posted about the Syrian refugee situation. I need to clarify my opinion for those who thought I was heartless.
Read last weeks blog ;'Welcoming Syrian refugees to Hawaii...'
http://dakinetalk.blogspot.com/2015/11/blog-1659james-kimo-rosenwelcoming.html

America is no longer in it's infancy.  I realize most of our ancestors are all from somewhere else. However our grandparent's countries of origins were not threatening to send terrorist amongst the innocent and we were not overpopulated then.

If there are too many people in a bar and a fire  erupts it  could cause  panic and people could kill each other. Too many people on a multiple floor dwelling could collapse the floor and the people below would also suffer.

Right now it's like the restaurant has reached it's capacity, Do we let more people in while jeopardizing the safety of those here?

There are Arab countries close to Syria that also have many of the same belief systems, why are they not welcome there?

Getting back to Facebook--Many times friends will unfriend friends because they don't agree with them. The current  Syrian refugee situation is  an example--if you don't think like me, your wrong . Thousands of memes have appeared on Facebook for both sides of the argument. A common thought process goes like this, I don't like you because your opinion
is wrong so now, we are no longer friends.

When I was a kid, I can still hear my dad  telling me  you should never talk with friends or strangers about religion or politics.

Looks like my dad, may
he rest in peace--was a very wise man!

How about we all talk about pizza, then we can all be friends!

"Miracles do happen.." 'Judith Whitehead' (Inspiration Sunday)

Judith Whitehead lives in Amherst New York
( A suburb of Buffalo, N.Y.)
and has worked in the ophthalmology
field of medicine for over 30 years

Miracles Do Happen
Miracles can happen! This is
the little girl Judy speaks of!

A good friend of mine several years ago decided she wanted to give back in a big way.

She and her husband went for classes so they could become Foster parents to those children in need. My friend, never having had children of her own had an abundance of love to share and wanted to help in some small way those children from broken homes, children taken away from unfit parents and born into dire circumstances.

Sometimes the parents just needed a break from life and had to be counseled on how to parent. CFS, Child and Family services, brought many children to her doorstep, some for a
short time and others for a prolonged visit. Each child had their own set of circumstances and had lived in several homes before they reached hers. She cared for them as best she could; some came with
severe emotional problems that were difficult to deal with. And then one night... her and her husbands life changed.

In the middle of the night a social worker brought her a premature baby in a carrier with only the clothes on her back. She was 2 months old and was a tiny bundle sunk down in her carrier. Of course my friend took her in and immediately went out to buy all the things she needed to care and nurture a young baby with many needs. At that point she did not know if she would have her for a day, a month or year but she was happy to give her all the love and care she needed. Amazingly she was from the same ethnic background as my friend and looked exactly like her. It was like a gift from the heavens.

Many years ago her sister had passed away and their baby pictures were almost identical.

The months quickly passed and her biological parents were unable to take care of her and the question of adoption came up. The mother did have allowed visits to her child but knew she could not offer her the life she so deserved and gave her up for my friends to adopt.

It became a dream come true as my friend grew to love this little thriving bundle of joy and so desired a child of her own. She and her husband initiated the long arduous process to adopt which has taken many months, and has proven to have many hurdles to jump through, but she can now see the end of the
tunnel.

This month her little angle has become 2 years of age and is the light of their lives. She couldn't imagine life without her and I am so delighted that she will finally become the mother of a child she
wanted for so many years. They all are truly a match sent from heaven.

As she and her husband have seen first hand, there are so many local children in this area that are in need of a loving family to either stay with or join permanently. It is a selfless gesture to provide a safe and nurturing home life for these kids. I had no idea what has to occur during the fostering process. My friend opened my eyes to a side of life most of us never see.

There are wonderful, innocent children out there that by no fault of their own were born into circumstances that are out of their control.

My friends will still offer their home to children in need
but are now fulfilled in their hearts with the love of their lives, their little bundle of joy.
