When Friends become Family
Growing up in the 1950's
we had a rather small family; one sibling, a few cousins and aunts and uncles and grandparents who were a big part of our family then; as I grew up and family members either passed away or moved away, my friends became a larger part of my life. As we age, we seem to switch out family members at gatherings, with friends that become our chosen family.
This month will mark a new milestone for our family. My very special friend who has become my “sister” and her husband are becoming adoptive parents to a precious chosen daughter. Having longed for a child of her own for so many years, she has finally been blessed with a foster baby and I have been chosen to be a guardian/god mother; A new title in my wheel house.
Over the years, I have realized that family may be blood but good friends have trumped in many instances. A friend that has been chosen will gladly answer the call for support and friendship more so than a family member than at times feel it was their responsibility to “help” out.
I feel that I have been more than blessed over the years with people that I can call at a moments notice for help or support when needed. Many people I know do not come from a family support system and only can rely on their friends when a crisis occurs.
It is with boundless joy that we welcome Zory Krug into our chosen family and wish for her a lifetime of friendships, love and happiness for she deserves only the best.

Aloha Judith ,please send us some SNOW ,we don't have anything like snow in Kauai,will send U pineapple syrup for your Shave ice dessert ..
