Obama Da Dog who possesses the same views as her Master and best friend James"Kimo" Rosen and believes the gay lifestyle is a choice most times... What's your view? |
Homosexuals are now called, "Gay," a much kinder word. Gay to me is still someone light hearted and brightly coloured.
People say it's not a choice? I believe the majority of times it is choice, sure some are born homosexual ,but not all? I know middle aged woman who were once married with children in a traditional marriage and just gave up on guys. I know guys who have had families then opted for a change in their mid life crisis stating, "they got bored and variety is the spice of life."
Many men in prison change sides because there are no females present, which is a choice. The brain can be taught and programmed for many things...
The choice is yours, or is it?

Douglas Dunn said via facebook;"My dear Kauai bruddah Kimo -- I respectfully, but STRONGLY, disagree with your "belief" that same-sex attraction is "a choice most times."
People can believe anything. In 1491, everyone in the world except for a handful of educated persons... versed in Greek science held a "belief" that the world was flat. In 1493, no one in the western world held that view.
Belief is irrelevant to science.
Here is just a small sampling of PEER REVIEWED scientific studies that disagree with your "belief" about people choosing to be gay:

I would be interested in seeing the objective "science" that supports your "belief." Or is it more of that flat earth stuff?"
Steven Eayrs said via facebook;"tricky question, but on one level, most people are not not forced to do anything. Those that are forced are considered a victim of a rape crime. My opinion is most all of us make life long decisions based on experiences, regardless if they ...are positive or negative. Without healing the negative ones can take over and run our lives... The biggest choices are if a person is willing to forgive themselves and others and receive healing, or not. You can go many directions with this thought but I won't bother right now... To many, are too quick, to accuse others of hatred, just because they believe there is such a thing as absolute truths. I have friends who are gay, but our freindship is based on mutual respect, not because I agree with their lifestyle."
Douglas Dunn said via facebook;"Steven, we are not talking about force. To bring up "force" is to change the subject. We are talking about voluntary, consensual relationships among consenting adults. Stick to the issue.
If same sex attraction is NOT a personal choice, th...en interference by BIG GOVERNMENT is a travesty against personal dignity.
If same sex attraction IS a personal "choice," but does not affect or infringe anyone else, therefore NOT BIG GOVERNMENT'S BUSINESS, then what business is it of government to stick its big nose into private, personal matters of individual liberty?
Please explain, and justify with scientific documentation, as I did, why BIG GOVERNMENT should stick its big government nose into personal freedoms.
Why do so many conservatives hate personal freedom?"
Steven Eayrs said via facebook;" To have an opinion is not to hate personal freedom, or does it need to imply that I am for big government, or that I would interfer with others choices. To have an opinion is to think for yourself... Why is it so many liberals think they ar...e the free thinking people, the ones making the big stand in support of all people and beliefs, yet are total hypocrites when it come to opinions they strongly object to? Could it be that you too believe in absolute truths, but yours are to believe the more contemporary writings of others to be your gospel message, and chose to mask it as science? .................and I did not chance the subject. I simply stated that both positive and negitive enforcement on a person life have a way of molding thought about themselves. Can you handle that? Is it ok to have an opinion other than your own?"
Douglas Dunn said via facebook;"No, Steven, you did NOT state any positive and negative aspects as to why BIG GOVERNMENT should intrude its big nose into PRIVATE, personal individual matters.
If it is a choice, as some (like my dear friend bruddah James Kimo Rosen believ...e), then it is a PERSONAL choice that BIG GOVERNMENT has no business in.
If it is NOT a choice, as a UNANIMOUS consensus of scientists agree, as I cited (and if you disagree, then please do, AS I DID, and CITE YOUR SOURCES), then it is a crime against humanity to discriminate against people just for who they are born to be.
No, it is not merely that the government discriminates against same sex attraction.
It is that the government, in utter violation of the 14th Amendment (equal protection) of the Constitution, REQUIRES by legal mandate that individuals discriminate based on gender in the selection of the marital partners."
Steven Eayrs said via facebook;" and I suggest that all the government did was adopt much older laws. I also believe in a God, which your science cannot find real proof for or against. Many scientist would not agree with your chosen number, yet you suggest that this scien...ce is pure and not subjected to preconcieved opinions? ... And for getting off the subject??...this is not about what the goevenment does or does not do...Your the only one who is trying to make that the issue. It was a question about personal opinion. I'm not for govenment intervention in this anymore than you, but you must realize its not conservatives who are pushing that issue.. Most conservatives would have little problem if gays were granted legal rights to a "union", and the benifits of such....They just don't want it called marriage, which they see as a "covenent under a God they believe in. Of course you obviously don't think their freedoms are worth respecting. I don't understand why the gay community is not pushing for the same rights, unattached to this sacred covenant? Must the freedoms and beliefs of many others be trampled on in order to gain their rights?"
Davis "3-D" Danizier said via facebook;"Oh please, Steven, please SPARE ME you Bible crap trying to impose religion into a system of government which, BY INTENTIONAL DESIGN OF THE FOUNDERS, kept religion a personal and private matter, as it should be, and public policy restricted... to matters that involve the public as a whole.
Bible? Please. Spare me, thou hypocrite.
The definition of marriage has evolved throughout the entirety of human history. In Bible times, and throughout cultures around the world (think of China, India, the Incas, the Aztecs) the “definition” of “marriage” was one one man entering into a property arrangement by which he owns multiple underage prepubescent females of the same ethnic tribe, in arranged marriages, maintaining "dominion" over these wives in the same way as his herds, flocks and other livestock.
In various forums (including the Kauai paper web comments and those of the local paper where I live), I have presented the links to Biblical references to back this up. I have saved them. Do you need me to cite them again for you?
Oh, and please spare me the citations from Leviticus on the “abomination” of same sex marriage (out of wedlock, please note). Unless you equally eschew the eating of pork, shrimp, crabs, use of tattoos, or wearing of garments made from multiple fabrics, also called “abominations” in Leviticus (do you need references?) your denial of rights based on religion, in opposition to our system of separation of Church and state, rings very, very, hollow.
But let me ask you, Steven…
Why are you so threatened by the sexuality of others?
Do you feel some inadequacy in your own sexuality?
If not, why does anyone else’s sexuality have so much importance to you?"
Steven Eayrs said via facebook;" Why are some so threatened by anothers opinion? Those who claim to be for freedom for all, all too often are against anyone actually believing something. I sense a little hatred here, and never once stated I was against anyone believing whatever they want.....I stated my PERSONAL opinion."
Doug, Just my opiion and gut feeling,I am pretty liberal on most issues, however instinct overcame me and just knew in my heart that men having sex with each other is one of the most unhealthy things a person can do. Many others support this view with scripture, I support it with gut feeling, common sense and instinct.
Homosexual sex is high risk for the aids virus compared to heterosexual sex, sure you may get aids from heterosexual sex, but the odds are not near as great.
A Lesbian couple lives next door to me, they were both previous married for over 20 years and have children from their past heterosexual relationships. I also know men who were once in a traditional marriage and in fact quite the casanova's, even the comedian Kevin Meany had a wife and child and in his mid life crisis and changed sides. The brain can be programmed to think anything... Are Pedophiles born pedophiles or do they develop into pedophioles?
Btw, Doug, If you Google "is Homosexuality a choice," the answer is split down the middle... There are too many studies to list, but my final answer is, I believe some are born that way and others chose. However either way the brain can be re-programmed for anything. Just my opinion...
Douglas Dunn said via facebook;"Steven -- why are some so threatened by another's opinion?
Sorry, but that's the wrong question.
The right question is: why are some so threatened by another's sexuality?
No one who is secure in their own sexuality will be threatened by the purely private behavior of anyone else."
Douglas Dunn said via facebook;"-- really, Kimo?
You are going to compare general opinions from Google to a list of peer-reviewed scientific research?
You are confusing "opinion" with "facts."
People can have the "opinion" that Obama was born in Kenya.
It does not change the FACT that he was born in Hawaii in 1961.
The reason you cannot find any peer-reviewed science in the last 30 years to support your false belief is. If you had Googled whether the earth is flat or round in 1491, the number saying flat would be vritually 100%, all but a handful of educated persons familiar with the work of Greek mathematician Eratosthenes more than 200 years B.C., who had not only determined that the earth was round but had correctly calculated its circumference."
Steven Eayrs said via facebook;"Please tell me where I stated I was threatened by anothers sexuality? I simple stated an opinion of how I have chosen to live, and what I believe. Do you actually think that any opinion in opposition to yours holds no truth or scientific support.??"
Douglas Dunn said via facebook;"Steven -- I believe that any opinion in opposition to my understanding of the FACT that the planet Earth is spherical holds no truth or scientific support.
I believe that any opinion in opposition to my understanding of the FACT that the planet Earth revolves around the sun holds no truth or scientific support.
I believe that any opinion in opposition to my understanding of the FACT that the infectious disease is caused by bacteria and viruses rather than demon spirits holds no truth or scientific support.
You are confusing matters of OPINION regarding whether or not same sex attraction is a CHOICE, with matters of FACT. I cited FACTS. As with infections diseases, we now know exactly the genetic factors that set up a predisposition to same sex attraction, as well as the prenatal epigenetic factors that cause those factors to be expressed. Did you even read any of the actual SCIENCE (not Google opinions) I cited."
Steven Eayrs said via facebook;"Looks like I totally agree with you on all accounts listed.... So whats your point? Do you not realize that science is often disputed between scientist? Your blown out of context examples don't prove anything. What am I believing that you so disagree with? And please try to stick to what I have said and not what you think I mean."

Unc, I agree with everything you said above, My only point to this blog was I feel in many instances homossexuality is a choice. As I said the choice is yours!
Harmony said via facebook;"Kimo, I believe the only people who really have a choice about being gay are those who are bisexual."
Harmony, excellent point!
I don't believe that the sudden middle aged conversions were really just a matter of choice. I think that many engaged in heterosexual bondings as a result of societal pressure and expectations, only to later reveal what they had buried for so long, whether it was conscious or subconscious .
