"Obama's coup de grace..." 'Obama Da Dog'

Obama Da Dog  blogs about President Obama's recent endorsement of "Gay marriage." Obama Da dog possesses the same opinion's as her master;  James "Kimo" Rosen. This blog was published on 05-20-12 as an opinion article in the Kaua'i Garden Island News titled, "What's in a marriage..?"
http://thegardenisland.com/promo/homepage/letters-for-sunday-may/article_ca378622-a261-11e1-a8a2-0019bb2963f4.html
Gay marriage is something people will support in small talk but not in the privacy of the voting booth. President Obama went too far this time in support of Gay Marriage.
There are close to 40 states  (39) that  do not allow gay marriage and the states that allow civil unions were  mostly close nail-biter elections.
I do not believe in gay marriage, or heterosexual marriage for that matter. Why are the gays so intent  on an institution that ends in divorce more times than not.

Marriage is defined as a union between a man and woman, not a man and a man, or a woman and a woman. Gay marriage needs to be called something different, in the past I have suggested "Garriage."I believe President Obama has sealed his fate as a one term President. I voted for him, named my dog after him and  will vote for him again, however his recent endorsement of "Gay marriage,"  may be the  politically correct thing , however  it's not what the majority will tolerate.

Gay marriage will be Obama's coup de grace.

Davis D Danizier "3-D" said via facebook;"I respectfully disagree, Bruddah James Kimo Rosen!

The definition of marriage has NOT traditionally been between one man and one woman. As I posted earlier in the May 11 TGI letters forum (which is the most recent edition), for most of hum...an history, and especially as explicitly specified in the Bible (prepared to provide “chapter and verse” to those not educated in Biblical mythology), "traditional marriage" has meant one man entering into a property arrangement by which he owns multiple underage prepubescent females of the same ethnic tribe, in arranged marriages, maintaining "dominion" over these wives in the same way as his herds, flocks and other livestock.

The concept of marriage as one man marrying one woman he (not his parents) chooses for love is a relatively new phenomenon not practiced in many parts of the world still today.

You may or may not be right about Obama's principled stand (agree or disagree, it is as huge a risk as going into Pakistan to take out Bin Laden without their permission). His statement may help accelerate the pace of public acceptance. Or there may be others like you (and certainly many blacks) who disagree, but are not "single issue" voters and will vote for him anyway. Or, he might have sealed his electoral doom by standing up for what was right if not popular. Certainly many a principled politician in the Deep South met the same fate by standing up for racial civil rights in the 1960's, which is why there are so few principled politicians left there today.

But the FACT remains that the definition of marriage changes, the government has no business butting its public policy nose into private relationships, and the definition will continue to evolve as the younger generation comes to power in which there is an extraordinarily high consensus of approval, including among Republicans and other conservatives.

Obama (the president, not the dog) is standing on the right side of history. And as Martin Luther King Jr. said, "The moral arc of the universe is long, but it bends towards justice."

"3-D" , my Oxford Dictionary-Thesaurus defines marriage as a" legal union between a man and a woman." I like Obama, and just because I disagree on this one I will still vote for him, however I feel the masses are going to go nuts over this, ironically this will probably become the most important issue of the election.. stay tuned.

"3-D" said via facebook;" dictionaries are REFLECTIVE of the state of evolution of words in their modern usage. A lexicon from a thousand years BC (or in Saudi Arabia today) would have defined it as I did above citing the "tradition" meaning thro...ugh most of human history.

I don't know the age of your dictionary, but increasingly, modern dictionaries are expanding the definition to reflect the state of this term which continues, as it has through history, to evolve and expand"

(Published 2003 by Oxford University Press.) 3-D I still maintain that gay marriage needed a word to call it's own, then people wouldn't be so crazy aboiut this. I have jokingly sugguested "Garriage" but really mean it. By taking the 'G' from gay , dropping the 'M,' you have "Garriage." Just wait until the Gay's start divorcing, they'll wish they never Garried! ;D)

"3-D" said via facebook;""Well, yeah, 2003.
In 2003, there was no place in the United States (and to my knowledge, in the English-speaking world, which is what Oxford covers) where same-sex marriage was legal.

The first state to legalize it was Massachusetts, the next year, in 2004.
Today, 8 states (not including California's brief foray prior to Prop 8) and Canada all allow same sex marriage.

In the same sex issue, the NINE YEARS since your old dictionary was published have been more like a revolution than an evolution.

Your book is outdated. Newer dictionaries reflect the change that has occurred in the real world, but which had not even begun when your dictionary was published."

‎"3-D" Wow, 2003 is modern to me! Guess it's showing signs of my age. ;D( I am putting on my list a new Dictionary Thesaurus!

Ron Ostroff said via email;"I definitely know there is no such thing as gay marriage. gay as defined in the dictionary means lighthearted or carefree... as in fred flintstone "we'll have a gay old time". Well believe me, marriage is no gay old time. As for two people wanting to make each other miserable I say fine with that. I do draw the line at cats and dogs living together."

Harmony, I didn't say I was against Obama, I just said I do not believe the masses can handle it...I still support Obama, just not everything he does. Although some still believe he can walk on water, I believe he is an awesome human... being.
