Fundraising for the homeless with the stars

What a wonderful way to spend the evening attending a fundraising event in Los Angeles for the Homeless.

The Homeless population is tremendous here and so many need rehab from drugs, alcohol and education along with shelter, food and assistance with reentering the world.

The Midnight Mission is the homeless provider for all  of this through generous donations of time and money to keep this going for so many.

Tonight at the Beverly Wilshire, over 900 people attended paying large amounts of money for the event,  to attend. We heard testimonials from many people that have gone through rehabilitation including Dick Van Dyke who is a recovered alcoholic. I had the pleasure of talking with him and can tell you he is still a gentle person we all loved in the 1960's  and 70's only a whole lot older.
Dick Van Dyke, still going strong at 89!

A wonderful meal was served to us along with entertainment and silent auctions to participate with.  They raised over a million dollars that night! What a cause to give to.

My son's boss is a huge benefactor to this cause and we all enjoyed the evening together. It makes you once again give thanks and remember,  there for the grace of God, I could be one of them.

Over one million dollars was raised for the homeless!

Homelessness is huge in Hawaii...Many homeless from over the mainland get free airfare from their state's departments of human services and they sent them to Hawaii where the weather is hot all year long... Many tourists no longer want to come to Hawaii, especially to Waikiki where the homeless population is out of control...

That is way cool you saw Dick Van Dyke. I am happy to learn he is still alive & kicking at 89!
