REBA, ROSA AND BOOTS
Oh, I do hope there are a lots of cat lovers out there. I’m a feline fanatic. The last of my pride of four, Annie cat, dashed off to kitty heaven at the ripe old age of 25.
As a devout non believer, I make believe there is a kitty heaven, and-if so-I hope I can pause there for a moment after I croak. I’m 84, you know, and very few of us live forever. In fact, I’ve never known anybody who did. Oh, there was one guy who- I’m told- died and returned three days later-only to vanish never to be seen again
But he’s expected at any moment. Has been for better than two thousand years. I’m not holding my breath. How about you?
Back to Rosa, Reba, and Boots.
Well, Rose and Reba are two of the most expensive cats I’ve ever owned. Worth it, too. I found them at the Kauai Humane Society. Love at first sight. Reba, the gray/black tiger, is-according to her Official Animal Identification-a domestic short hair mix-pretty fancy name for an ally cat-and like her sister, Rosa, was 2 months and eight days old when I brought them home. Rosa is the black orange tortoiseshell. They’re both a little over two pounds. Their ID is so extensive I’m going to take them to the DMV and get them a driver’s license. Or maybe enter them in a cat show.
Boots my grown up puppy-part Pit Bull- is one of the sweetest dogs I’ve ever had. She grew up around cats, but I didn’t know how she’d take to two spunky bouncing balls of fur.
One of the most difficult things to do with an animal-any animal- is introduce it to a new environment and I sincerely doubted either Reba or Rosa had encountered such a wide variety of sounds, sights, smells and textures in their short little lives. Think of it, they’d only been on this planet for 68 days-and my jungle barn/house is a pretty large area to explore.
Cats are by nature explorers. And- wow-did they have a lot of exploring to do. I have full grown trees in my living space and they’d never seen a real tree before. Did it bite? Did it scratch? Did it smell good? “What is one supposed to do with it?” Rosa meowed.
I decided to let them run free and keep Boots on a short loose leash, just in case.
I watched Reba balance on top if a chair and gage the distance between her perch and a distant round bench beside a round table. She hunched, she bunched, she sprang. Missed. Picked herself up, shook herself off, and washed her face.
Her first encounter with Boots was a surprise to everyone. ‘specially Boots. She’s about the size of her ear. She took one look at this overgrown whatever, stiffened her legs, arched her back and exploded. Teeth and Claws. Ended up protecting Boots instead of the kittens.

I thought the part about not holding your breath for Jesus to return was pretty funny!
There is more than one way to get to Rome, I respect many religions, even Atheists, although I am a firm believer in the almighty. happy Rosh
Nice article, personally with respect ,cats can jump on the kitchen counters, scratch up everything, don't respond if you call them, have a mind of their own, if you can't tell my bias, I am a Dog lover, they are loyal can be trained & can protect you or @ least sound the alarm if intruders approach.
