I don't trust Hollywood
or the politicians promoting the vaccine. I want to be safe, but how can I trust a vaccine that's not approved by the FDA except for emergency usage. One of the vaccines was temporality

All pharmaceutical drugs have a huge list of warnings enclosed with each purchase. My diabetes medication includes possible renal failure or death and it is approved by the FDA.

I know many who have had severe reactions to the Moderna vaccine. One friend says

A neighbor had a rare reaction.
She felt dizzy and nauseous, her son took her to the ER. They found an embolism in her lower groin and operated immediately. The embolism had nothing to do with the vaccine. The ER visit ironically saved her life. "The Lord works in mysterious ways."

Many on the political right
believe the vaccine is a clinical trial and everyone whose been vaccinated is part of the experiment. Folks on the left believe science cannot be wrong and believe beyond a reasonable doubt in the vaccine.

A doctor friend told me something I haven't heard from anyone else, to avoid harsh reactions 
to the vaccine start taking an antihistamine a few days prior to your scheduled shots. The concept is antihistamines are allergy pills, hence they prevent allergic reactions. it worked for me. Any over-the-counter allergy medication will work. (Take at your own risk.)

I am a conspiracy theorist, however, when you see what's happening in India with

Mr. Rosen, I am surprised you decided on being vaccinated. I still believe the government is withholding deadly information and there is no way I will be a guinea and sacrifice my body when this virus is 99% curable.
Interesting you admit you believe in conspiracy theories, and I guess that's why it took as an extreme of a tragedy as what's happening in India to convince you to get vaxed. I had Moderna. No major side effects but a sore back and tiredness for less than a day. My dad died from covid, and my 2nd shot was scheduled on what would have been his 95th birthday if he hadn't succumbed to covid. As I got my shot, I yelled out, "This one's for you, Dad!"

Both my children are fully vaccinated from everything else. They have no co-morbidities. COVID-19 does not pose a threat to children. The statistics overwhelmingly prove this. Why would I give them an experimental drug to prevent a disease that's not going to hurt them?
Went to my doctor because I thought he had a better handle on which inoculation to get and he told me to get out and go home. He said every "preventive" shot I was given gave me a supreme case of that illness. I nearly wound up in the hospital with the flu one year and pneumonia the next. When I had my boosters I caught whooping cough! No thanks, he's right, I'll pass.

Have to disagree with you there, Kimo. I was a polio pioneer in the early 50's after Jonas Salk worked years to perfect it. I had no choice. I was in second grade. I don't trust people who spew unverified information as if they are the most knowledgeable people in the world. When, if fact they are just promoting an opinion not based on fact.

They want the public safer. How many of you always wear your face mask in public when you go out? Do you concern yourself with a thing called coronavirus while using the face mask? And do you know what kinds of symptoms this virus gives? The thing is, if there is nothing wrong with you, don’t need any vaccine. But how smarter are the kids of today to know what is the best choices health wise? Not that smart yet. The vaccine makes people sick, because they are given a vaccine that assumes you have the virus. Then work from there. If you don’t have the virus, the body reacts so as to not know what is going on. Because there is no need for a medicine. That is why. A person needs to catch the virus first, then the vaccine will be effective. The body learns to adapt to changes, then produces necessary antibodies that wards off the virus. The vaccines takes effect, and you have a healing process and quarantine and cleared from having a coronavirus.
To educate, or not to educate, that will be the question.

Science is Correct, it’s the scientists that are Not.
Natural Human made Antibodies specifically match viruses in order to eliminate them. Vaccines do not, cannot, impossible to make that happen.
Human made Antibodies perpetuate Health in the Healthy.

Welcome to the real world! I think it would be easier to give more credit to Trump for the vaccines had he not gotten vaccinated secretly in January and then waited almost two months to make a single statement encouraging Americans to get vaccinated. He should be pushing the vaccine aggressively if he wants to take credit for it. But he can’t– because his entire following is based on lies and conspiracies at this point and to admit that one conspiracy is false could open the door that others are too. Gasp— maybe Joe Biden really did win the election?!?!? Glad people are seeing the light and glad that you got vaccinated Kimo!

OK, a nod to tRump for doing at least one thing well. Even though Biden would have probably gotten the job done in 6 months 🙂 And a nod to Liz Cheney for being one of the few Republicans who are willing to tell it like it is about tRump and his divisive nature.

Everyone over the age of 50 who has a serious health issue like heart disease, cancer, pulmonary disease, diabetes etc. should be vaccinated with the experimental vaccine of their choice. Everyone else should take off their masks, live life as if Covid was just a flu, and keep America Great like it was before the Covid dilemma. Everyone can make their own non-propagandized decision for, or against, having the vaccine, Anyone who vaccinates a healthy child under the age of 18 should be incarcerated for child abuse and endangerment! Children have a relative 100% rate of not even knowing they had Covid, full survival, and immune systems that can create their own immunity for life!

Most unvaccinated kids will survive just fine after catching the COVID virus… nearly all of them.
But many these kids could unknowingly pass it along to their unvaccinated great-uncle and to grandma, who are MUCH more LIKELY to need MAJOR medical attention and could (10%) die from the virus passed along from kiddo’s loving breath (before anyone knew kiddo was infected and contagious).
If only Uncle Joe and Grandma had been vaccinated, they MIGHT (uncertain but likely somewhere from 1-10%) catch it from kiddo in this scenario, but the vaccinated oldsters have a less than 1% chance of getting hospitalized from COVID. And WILL NOT die from the disease. I like those kinds of odds, even while these vaccines are only approved for emergency use.
COVID-19 virus KILLS lots of older folks (and some youngsters too). Wide use of the current vaccines will almost certainly protect us all from its awful consequences.
PS. My dad worked on purifying polio virus variants for research in the early 1950s. And he made sure his kids got the Salk shot as soon as it was available.

I have no idea what the point, if any, of this opinion piece is. But the idea that the former guy somehow was responsible for operation Warp Speed is misguided. I give the former guy credit for a lot of things, such as inciting a deadly riot, but he had little or nothing to do with operation Warp Speed. The “Pfizer” vaccine was developed in Germany at BioNTech and invented by a pair of Turkish immigrants. Neither company received funds from the US government. The Moderna vaccine was developed in conjunction with the NIH, an institute the former guy did his best to decimate and to discredit (Dr. Fauci).

If you’re so concerned with putting this vaccine in your body I hope you are not being a hypocrite and putting other non FDA approved bad substances into your system.

I think the Pfizer is the best. It is what I had and aside from 24 hours of aches and pains after 2d jab no issues. I am hyper allergic and carry my epipen but nothing.
So I asked my Doctor before going and he said it was my choice but nearly medial professionals have opted to be vaccinated at the very beginning of vaccination. So I thought makes sense being exposed.
Then he said how many people have died of taking the vaccine now look at how many people have died of covid related illness.
Kind of blew all the Bill Gates conspired with the Chinese to put 5G chips in the world for total domination arguments out of the window.
So for the sake of the Kupuna and others if not for yourself, I would say get the Pfizer vaccine shots as soon as you can.

What saddens me is the distrust of so many people for so many of our institution; often with good reason. The government denied the possible effects of radiation to those military members who participated in the nuclear blast tests. They denied Agent Orange, PTSD, Gulf War syndrome, did a shoddy job in certifying Thalidamide(sic). If there is a pandemic that worries me it is the inability to trust the government, the press, or even the scientists (who are just as human as we are).

Please tell me you didn’t know about the $2,300,000,000 in lawsuits Pfizer got hit with in 2009 for “bribing doctors and suppressing adverse trial results when you were flipping a coin for your health decisions. After fact checking that do some digging into the neurological effects on individuals after being inoculated.

If Pfizer puts 20 million in a trust acct in my children’s names I’ll get a vaccine. I don’t trust the govt. I don’t trust big pharma. Darvocet was fda approved and made by Pfizer from 81-99’. Thousands died of liver failure and heart attacks so they pulled it. So just because they say it’s safe is BS

My wife and I regular visitors to Kauai and look forward to returning at the end of June. Regarding Mr Rosen’s fine letter, my suggestion to the fine ohana of Kauai – Get vaccinated! I lost my 40 yr old daughter to COVID on May 3. She had a previous bout with COVID back in February and was COVID positive at the time of her death. She had just received the 2nd vaccine the day before her death. The Coroner’s office concluded that the vaccine did not cause her death, however it would have prevented it. My advice to my Kauai ohana, please get the vaccine if anything to prevent your loved one’s from experiencing the loss COVID will cause. Mahalo, Tony

Glen – everyone who is vaccinated spreads the virus around just like everyone else! That fact changes everything you seem to believe this ineffective vaccine is? And the vaccine only gives you almost full protection for a measly 6 months! So you will need to have 2 shots of this experiment every 6 months to 1 year for life! The effects of that will not be known for decades. Everyone has the right to their own decision to enter that cycle of risk, or not.

How could you not question her death being related to the vaccine. If she had Covid then she had antibodies. Then no need for vaccine. Did her dr. Recommend her to be vaccinated? Where’s the logic here????
