Detroit, 65 years after Hiroshima |
We all know that Hiroshima and Nagasaki were destroyed in August 1945 After the explosion of atomic bombs. However, we know little about the progress made by the people of that land during the past 65 years. |
HIROSHIMA - 65 YEARS LATER |
And I don't think there has ever been a better explanation of the importance of incentive than this example
An economics professor at a local college made a statement that he had never failed a single student before, but had recently failed an entire class. That class had insisted that socialism worked and that no one would be poor and no one would be rich, a great equalizer.
The professor then said, "OK, we will have an experiment in this class on socialism".. All grades will be averaged and everyone will receive the same grade so no one will fail and no one will receive an A.... (substituting grades for dollars - something closer to home and more readily understood by all).
After the first test, the grades were averaged and everyone got a B. The students who studied 'hard' were upset and the students who studied 'little' were happy. As the second test rolled around, the students who studied little had studied 'even less' and the ones who studied hard decided they wanted a free ride too so they studied 'little'.
The second test average was a 'D'. No one was happy.
When the 3rd test rolled around, the average was an F.
As the tests proceeded, the scores never increased as bickering, blame and name-calling all resulted in hard feelings and no one would study for the benefit of anyone else.
To their great surprise, ALL FAILED and the professor told them that "socialism" would also ultimately 'fail' because when the reward is great, the effort to succeed is great, but when government takes all the reward away, no one will try or want to succeed.
Could not be any simpler than that.
Remember, there IS a test coming up. " elections sometime soon ? perhaps the sooner the better"
Your chance to have YOUR say.
These are possibly the 5 best sentences you'll ever read and all applicable to this experiment:
1. You cannot legislate the poor into prosperity by legislating the wealthy out of prosperity.
2. What one person receives without working for, another person must work for without receiving.
3. The government cannot give to anybody anything that the government does not first take from somebody else.
4. You cannot multiply wealth by dividing it!
5. When half of the people get the idea that they do not have to work because the other half is going to take care of them, and when the other half gets the idea that it does no good to work because somebody else is going to get what they work for, that is the beginning of the end of any nation.

via facebook;"first, all or nothing usually ends up with nothing at all.
Ok. That is what happens with Socialism. Now let's do a story about Capitalism.
There was a incredibly successful coal mine owner that always made a profit on his coal mines. His most profitable coal mines were more profitable than all the others. If he bought a coal mine that no other owner could make a profit with, he turned it into a very profitable one. If he bought a coal mine that only lost money, he turned a nice profit on it as well.
All the other coal mine owners were amazed at his success. As he neared the end of his life, his son wanted to know his secret so he could continue the family's success.
"Very simple" said his father. Since there is no Government control in a totally Capitalist society, I don't invest any money in mine safety.
"But what happens when there is a mine collapse? Doesn't that cost a lot of money to either fix or close the mine? And how about the miners? The cost of a rescue mission is enormous!" replied the son.
"Yes, that is true, " said the father. "However, I found out if I ignored the safety issue, I would still make quite a profit regardless of the occasional mine disaster. The cost of mine safety far outweighed the occasional loss due to a mine disaster."
"But what about the miners?" questioned the son.
"The miners?. For every miner that is lost, there are 10 more desperate people willing to take his/her place. Remember son, since there is no Government interfering with my business, I can do what I want. Also, no help for the miners means there will always be another warm body to replace the cold ones. AND DON'T GET ME STARTED ON UNIONS!"
Also, regarding the pictures of Detroit and Hiroshima, The United States played an integral part in Japan's recovery from the devastation of World War II.
So, all Socialism is a disaster. All capitalism, also a disaster. Maybe a nice mix of the two makes for a better society for all"
Ron, great story... and your idea of Irena Sendler as a future blog is a go! ;D)
