The Price of a new Roof
Owning a home is a never ending money pit; just when you think you are caught up on maintenance, the windy winter does a number on the roof. Our roof is only 12 years old; after a patch job last year, we have a new batch of shingles that are coming loose. I think I will have to take on another job to replace this shabby roof, the estimates range from $12,000 to $30,000 dollars…
I did get a good laugh from the estimator; he gave me two options…do you want a roof with a 30 year guarantee or one with a 50 year guarantee?? Seriously, do I care what this roof looks like when I am 90 or 110 years old?? He responded with, “we never know how long we will live until”, and I responded, I am quite sure I will not make it until 110 yrs old!
So for now, I hope we don’t have a windy, rainy Spring or there will be a lot of tarps hanging around this house.
