"If you don't know Jack, now's the time..!" 'James "Kimo" Rosen' (Kimo's world #83)

Kimo's World #83
Kaua'i island welcomes fast food giant-
 ~Jack in the Box

If you don't know Jack, now's the time!

Hawaii is the most isolated population center on the face of the earth. Hawaii is 2,390 miles from California; 3,850 miles from Japan; 4,900 miles from China; and 5,280 miles from the Philippines.

Where I live on the island of Kauai is  like living on an isolated rock in the middle of the Pacific.

Kauai is also known for a large number of anti's and environmental hippies that like to  protest and are opposed to everything and anything that the masses seem to enjoy. Therefore when a new fast food  franchise arrives on the cosmic island of Kauai you would think it would be met with hoards of protesters---that like to protest everything from Walmart super centers to GMO's. No protests or demonstrations, just a huge welcome filled with aloha.
A full dining room opening day
at Lihu'e Jack in the Box

Monday July 27th was the grand opening of the first ever  Jack in the Box on Kauai. You would think the Pope or President Obama was in town. Lines so deep you needed a restroom break before ordering. A dining room so crowded that I was told by one fast food junkie that they waited three and one half hours for their lunch.
The drive through is backed
 up and zigg zagged
 around Jack in the box
 opening day in Lihu'e,

The drive-through was another story, the line zig-zagged with vehicles, engines on and AC blasting on this hot, humid record breaking  July day.  If Jack's motto of, "We don’t make it until you order it" is true, the  wait would had been staggering.

Jack in the Box are geniuses in marketing, the food is anything but gourmet or healthy, yet the lines were staggering in numbers. Not only on opening day but still over one week later you would think they were giving away free gold bullion bars.
There are some fast food franchises that may have better food, however they don't know 'Jack' about marketing.

So, if you don't know Jack, now's your opportunity...

E komo mai (Welcome) Jack.

Outstanding, Kimo. Guess there is no reasonable answer to what people do or think---protest (as you said) everything under the sun but then wait in line for some junk food that that will do them more harm than any of the other items that they protest.
Fine article about the Vet---this world needs more compassionate people like him.

Well you know me, protestor #1, Kauai. I'm not protesting Jack whatever but I would no more eat their food---let alone stand in line to eat their food--than I'd sprout wings and fly to the moon. Btwhat the hell, teach his own. Love Bettejo
