James "Kimo" Rosen is a retired professional photographer
and amongst other things lived in a tent outdoors for 7 years.
Rosen currently resides on the tropical island of Kaua'i

Mayor Carvalho will be sorely  missed

I will sorely miss the man, the former NFL Miami Dolphin and UH offensive linebacker, the man with the singing chops of an angel, the man whom wears
a Kukui nut and Green ti leaf lei more fashionably and with dignity, yet such a humble man--the man whom we all know as Mayor. Bernard Carvalho Jr.

'The man responsible along with Dr. Bal for bringing free medical with Tropic Care to every resident on Kauai that stepped forward, the man that brought in the Ohio Air National Guard 200th Redhorse when funding ran out to finish the complex elevated switchback spur of the pedestrian trail. Now that's a legacy!' (updated 07-08-17)

2018 will soon be upon us and will be time for a new mayor for Kauai county and Niihau.
Term limits will have expired for Bernard Carvalho Jr.

I can't imagine The Garden Island without Mayor Carvalho as it's CEO. The charismatic man whom makes the time of day for anybody, even me.

I believe most people do not realize being Mayor is a 24-7, 7 day a week job. You cannot just turn it on or off.
Bernard, no matter where you see him, whether in the supermarket, at your favorite fast food restaurant ,at a friend's potluck, a religious ceremony, at a ball game, or even at Kauai's signature event, "The Taste of Hawaii" he always has time to hear your concerns to listen and talk story. He makes everyone feel like they are important and part of an island wide ohana.

There are coconut wireless rumors of 3 popular Kamaaina that may be in the running for the Mayor's job come 2018. Those politically connected know whom I''m speaking of. It's going to be hard to make a decision on who to vote for because all these citizens supposedly running are good decent people and  fellow islanders--of which many of you including myself consider friends.

In the interim whomever becomes the next mayor will have big shoes to fill, have you ever seen those shoes of Bernard's? They're yuge (sic)

I believe and hope our Mayor Carvalho will soon be "Governor Carvalho,"  should that be in his long range goals. Good luck and  God bless  Mayor Carvalho and first lady Regina, they are both a class act and are going to be sorely missed and a hard act to follow.

Photos and their captions listed below- there was a glitch in the system, not allowing me to caption under the photos, except for the one included to the left.

Photo #5-James Kimo Rosen's (me) unsuccessful bid for county council 2012. I applied for the job when Derek Kawakami resigned to become state representative. The council chose amongst resumes submitted. Although I never ran an official campaign, I did summit a resume for the job. I received a nice letter of thanks from the then chairman, Jay Furfaro thanking me for my desire to serve, yada, yada, yada, however  another fellow islander wound up winning, KipuKai Kualii .
