"Bruddah, brother, bro, brah.."‏ 'Obama Da Dog' (Shabbat saturday's)

Obama da Dog guest blogs about her favorite words... Bruddah, Brother, Bro, Brah...
A couple of Bruddah's...

Hawai'i has a unique second language of Pidgin, it's a broken English that originally was a little bit of all immigrants, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Thai, Portuguese, etc.

In Hawai'i  people call brothers, bruddah's, it's brother with a Hawai'ian flare ,but some people shorten bruddah to Brah. Many times men in Hawaii are addressed as brah, not bruddah, brother or bro but by the term brah.

I always feel a little uneasy calling a 300 lb local man, Brah? I think to myself is this guy going to pound the crap out of me for calling him a woman's undergarment? Calling a Man a Brah is the equivalent  of  calling a woman a Jock-strap. I guess it's OK, after all one mans brah is another woman's jock strap. Translated to, "so what who cares," call me anything you want, just don't call me brassiere...

Brother is a term used frequently all over America to mean a close friend, or someone whose practices the same religion could be a brother in the Lord. Bro is short for brother, makes sense.
