De-clutter your closets and pay it forward..." 'Judith Whitehead' (Inspirational Monday)

Judith Whitehead is back guest-blogging on this Inspirational Monday about  paying it forward in a most rewarding way... Judith lives in Amherst N.Y. has worked in the ophthalmology field of medicine for almost 30 years...

De-clutter your closets and pay it forward

This year during the long New Years Day weekend we had a cold snap in our area, the first of the year where the temperatures dropped to 10 degrees. I heard the announcement that there would be extra room opened up at the City Mission and additional facilities in the area to make room for those who had no place to stay. No one can stay outside for very long in 10 degrees, it’s unbearable to with-stand.

I decided to make it my New Years project to declutter the closets and basement and do some long needed clearing out of unused boots, shoes etc. I managed to collect 4 large garbage bags of nearly new things that were sitting around that most likely would never get used for that rainy day and take them down to the city mission.

At 7am with open arms they were there to greet me with many smiles and many thanks.
It’s an easy thing to do; want to feel good and help someone? Clean out those unused items that you are holding on to that you know you will never use and help someone, pay it forward this year. Especially in the cold weather in the East, you could save a life.

via facebook;"Really brings to life the old saying that "one person's trash is another one's treasure."

The things we never use are being wasted, but there are others in need who are literally dying to make use of them.

Excellent way to "pay it forward"!

or another similar parable;" One mans meat is anothers man poison..." It reminds me of you and your daughter JoaAnn playing Santa for the less fortunate. All good mitzvah's!

via facebook;"Well, I do think Judith's example is more about trash to treasure than meat to poison.
Definitely the more positive, upbeat side of that analogy!"

either way they are all mitzvah's (good deeds)
