Kimo's World #79
Definitions change

Whether you  like it or not gay marriage is now legal in all 50 states.

Marriage used to be defined as a bond between a man and woman. Times have changed and   dictionaries have had to change the definition of marriage.

The question now remains will Meriam Webster, Oxford, American Heritage  and other dictionaries of the world now need to change the definitions of husband and wife?

Who knows, we may soon change the definition of right to wrong, and wrong to right.

P.S.

In my world, marriage is between man and woman as it was intended.

The bible, Koran, and sacred scrolls say God created man in His likeness. They also tell us God is omnipotent and is incapable of making mistakes. Further there is the Golden Rule as well as no commandment that specifically denies the right of God's Love to those whom are different. If God is to judge these people who are considered abominations to us it is His choice not ours. Does not the term "Judge not yet ye be judged" come to mind? These people are creations of God and, as we evolve as humans, we need to see things differently. After all it wasn't that long ago Blacks, American Indians, and Jews were abominations. Remember?

Good points Kit...

Kit said via email; "Glad I didn't upset you. I just feel everyone is subject to God's law as He designs and none of our business. I feel He places things before us to see how we react or perform to determine our worthiness. Kind of like a boss looks at an employee to see if they should get a pay increase. I pray we all pass that test."

I never get upset with the views of others. I only get upset with name calling and hatred. I welcome a good debate anytime. Although in this case i am asking what people think, not really expressing my view. Mahalos for you view!

I don't think mankind has the right to condemn and chastise homosexuals...On the other hand, I don't think mankind should be openly welcoming and rewarding the practice of homosexuality in any shape, form or fashion. Some things are too extremely unnatural to be considered equal to what nature so logically established---and homosexuality is one of the foremost of those things. Tolerate, yes...Reward, no. ~But it's too late now, the door has been opened and can't be shut, and I don't think this break-through moment in history is gonna end up well for anybody.

Meanings of words change and evolve all the time.

Throughout most of human history and in most parts of the world, and especially as explicitly specified in the Bible, Biblical "traditional marriage" is one man entering into a property arrangement by which he owns multiple underage prepubescent females of the same ethnic tribe, in arranged marriages, maintaining "dominion" over these wives in the same way as his herds, flocks and other livestock.

And if you want to follow strictly the Biblical definition of marriage, it also means that a rape victim must be forced to marry her rapist (Deut 22:28-29) and does not allow for divorce, which is prohibited repeatedly in both Old and New Testaments. And if the bride isn't a virgin, she needs to be stoned (and we're not talkin' about weed here).

The definition of "marriage" has continuously EVOLVED throughout human history and around the world, and continues to evolve. In my own lifetime, prohibitions against interracial marriage have fallen and wives have come closer to achieving legal and actual equality with husbands before the law.

Aloha Kimo:
For me, it doesn't matter what the dictionary says or any other book or paper. As long as it is legal for two people to be married it will no way affect me. I think it was a big mistake for the don't ask don't tell military issue and we were kicking out men and women who were highly qualified to help us fight (fighter pilots and interpreters) because they were gay. What a person does in his or her sex life is their business and, again, certainly does not change or affect how I live.
