Kimo's world's #188~Blog #1941
This blog also appeared this same day May 29, 2017 in the
Kaua'i Garden Island news; The Garden news edited it, what do you think of the edit?

I don't care about politics

 on Memorial day

I don't care  on this day that Melania Trump refuses to hold The Donald's hand  in Israel.

(Below,YouTube of Melania slapping Donald's hand in Israel)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SRPx0CIzAKM
I don't care on this day    that so many students disrespected Mike Pence after being invited to speak at their university, after-all this wasn't a public forum, which if it was I'd understand. However I don't care because no politics today, it's Memorial day!

I don't care on this day that so many want President Trump impeached.

I don't care on this day that Potus thinks his crowds were bigger than Obama's at the Inauguration?

I don't care that the media is biased towards Trump and  is trying hard to bring him down and always looking constantly for the gotcha moment and never giving our President credit for anything.

I don't care on this day who is lying, Jim Comey, Donald Trump, Hillary Clinton or the Tooth Fairy.

I don't care on this day  that the  fake media believes President Obama is Jesus incarnate and that Trump is the devil himself.

Today is Memorial  day and politics needs to be pushed aside. America is driving itself and it's citizens to the breaking point, nuts, crazy.

We need to remember President Obama's famous speech on the night of July 27, 2004,when then U.S. Senator Obama delivered the keynote address at the 2004 Democratic National Convention, a speech that would help propel him to the presidency four years later.
"Well, I say to them tonight, there's not a liberal America and a conservative America; there's the United States of America."
"There's not a black America and white America and Latino America and Asian America; there's the United States of America..."

On this Memorial day lets remember a veteran and say thanks, lets be thankful to our fellow American even if they are not in the same political party as you or the same religion or ethnicity as you. Lets be thankful for living in the greatest country on earth and for our freedoms that so many sacrificed their lives for.

Memorial day is not about the barbecue at  the beach, although that's great. Memorial day is about a united America and all our freedoms. Lets put politics aside and take a moment of silence and thanks to memorialize all who gave the ultimate sacrifice so we can all  talk open politics, however not today, because today is special--- It's Memorial day! Happy Memorial day and God bless America.

I just listened to your Andy Rooney link, & it would be nice if Memorial Day could be about preventing war deaths instead of merely remembering those who died in war.

KimoRosen said...

Yes, I sure miss Andy Rooney, 60 minutes died when he passed away. I can't believe that show still gets the ratings, and can't believe that they have not tried to find anybody to do closing remarks, that was the best part of 60 minutes. RIP Mr. Rooney, My mentor! ;-)

Your version had more substance, Kimo and I liked it better than TGI version. But Bill does not like controversy so I can understand why he edited it.

A woman from California has a negative response to my Memorial day opinion letter in today;s Garden Island news--- right when i thought I was being a diplomat?

Politics are the problem
In response to Kimo Rosen’s most recent letter in TGI, “No politics on Memorial Day.”
It is politics that ultimately put those brave soldiers in the ground.
Ruthann Jones, Soquel, Calif.

Wish Ruthann would had seen the long blog version, who knows what she would had written?

That is way over the top. Pearl Harbor was politics?

Monday June 5, 2017 had two letters to the editor concerning this letter; One form Ron Ronald Ostroff in Amherst in new York and a negative response from Michael Mawnn on Kauai. I wish The Garden had not edited my letter. I will write a reply to Mr. Mann.

Ron Ostoff's letter; Cousin Ron gets published in TGI!
Kimo spot on with commentary
I totally agree with Mr. Kimo Rosen (TGI, May 29). Young men and women gave their lives to protect our freedom. Politics has no place on this day.
Ron Ostroff, Amherst, New York

100% right Ron! I also lost a brother in Vietnam in 1968. Thank you

Michael Mann's letter;
Stand by your values
“We need to remember President Obama’s famous speech on the night of July 27, 2004, when he delivered the keynote address at the 2004 Democratic National Convention: ‘Well, I say to them tonight, there’s not a liberal America and a conservative America; there’s the United States of America. There’s not a black America and white America and Latino America and Asian America; there’s the United States of America …’”
Kimo, it is time for you to stop. Please. The hypocrisy on display in you quoting this call to unity of then-Sen. Barack Obama is galling. You turned your back on President Obama. You were vocal about this before TGI shut down the letter comments. You now support someone who doesn’t show any sense of agreement with Obama’s statements. Apparently, this is all just one big joke to you, and your system of beliefs has no real foundation in anything. What, exactly, do you believe in, Kimo?
Pick a set of values and stick with them, Kimo! Stop trying to play the field to get a laugh. None of it is funny. It used to be quirky and perhaps even endearing, but now it’s just maddening.
Michael Mann, Lihue

Fred Levinthol said...

No way Kimo, you keep up the good job, Pres. Trump is doing a good job and these liberals will never except it, no matter how well he does and he is doing a great job!!

KimoRosen said...

Mahalo Fred, Maybe you can write a short letter to TGI? Telling Mr. Mann that the left never got over the loss of their election and that I was not being funny. Thar TGI edited 7 paragraphs of my Memorial day letter and I was trying to be bi-partisan but he was too not over himself and the election and still hysterical over the election. gees. This is what happens when you try to be a diplomat.

KimoRosen said...

Fred, sending this to TGI for possible publication, what do you think?

I would like to respond to Mr. Michael Mann's recent criticism of my Memorial day opinion letter. I was not trying to be funny, I love America and unlike many Americans respect both Barack Obama and Donald Trump. I voted for both men.

This might be confusing I like to consider myself a diplomat, a mediator so to speak. I am an Independent and don't associate myself with either of the two major political parties. I associate myself as an American, thus the reason for quoting Barack Obama when he was Senator Obama giving his famous speech on the night of July 27, 2004 at the 2004 Democratic National Convention, a speech that would help propel him to the presidency four years later.

Mr. Mann should also note that TGI edited 6 paragraphs out of that letter. I believe if Mr. Mann would had read the unedited version he might had not gone off on a rant with me in a public forum.

I understand TGI's edit. I was an editor once for a major publication therefore I understood the edit keeping the letter clean and not political on Memorial day because my long version was almost hypocritical. TGI made a judgment call and a good edit, especially it being Memorial day, however I feel Mr. Mann should have the privilege of reading the long version of my letter which appeared in my blog that same day.

The complete version can be read at;
https://dakinetalk.blogspot.com/2017/05/i-dont-care-about-politics-on-memorial.html
In the mean time the left must get over the fact they lost the election. The world is still here and I am betting it will still be here in 2020 for the next presidential election.

Carrie Kneubuhl-Eckert said...

Poor Mr. Micheal Mann is mad at Kimo for his views. It sounds like you are having a meltdown. Who are you to tell Kimo to pick a side and stay on It? If Kimo, was disappointed with Obama, he has every right to change his views. It is called freedom. He does not have to stop writing because you say so. If you do not like his humor, or you don't like his letters or comments, than don't read them. You cannot censor his speech. Why is the left always trying to censor the rights freedom of speech? Suck, it up buttercup!

This simple letter sure has cause a lot of back lash. I was trying to be a diplomat. I actually thought the newspaper's version of editing 7 paragraphs made me look better, but , people will be people. Sometimes I just don't get it.

The best way to explain us humans is to quote Abe Lincoln.
" You can please some of the people some of the time, all of the people some of the time, some of the people all of the time, but you can never please all of the people all of the time." Abe Lincoln

No need to be nasty
Michael Mann, lighten up. Kimo Rosen is not your enemy. Kimo makes people think. So do you.
Your caustic remarks are annoying. Educate, don’t intimidate.

I too am tired of the insults form asshole left-wing liberals that think only THEY are entitled to an opinion. And if they don't agree with anything in which you believe, they find it necessary to call you names and do and say everything in their power to degrade you. These are absolutely selfish people that either have blinders on, and can't see the whole picture, or they have their heads up their you-know-what.
That includes our governor, our house representatives and our state senators.
God Bless.
