"The quietest fourth ever..." 'James "Kimo" Rosen'

This past Independence day was the most serene and quiet I can remember on Kaua'i!

Did Independence day really happen this year?

For the first year since I can remember on Kaua'i, I was not bothered by smoke and excessive noise from fireworks.

I watched the Hospice fireworks show from Vidinha stadium in Lihue from afar behind Mahelona hospital in Kapa'a.I saw or heard maybe two other  fireworks besides the professional fireworks show in Lihue.

I don't know if it's the economy or if people have become more considerate of their neighbors, or if there is some sort of fireworks ban I have not heard of, or possibly that I am being more tolerant myself?

Nonetheless this past fourth of July was the quietest I can recall. Hopefully New Years Eve can live up to the same standard.

May God and Darwin bless America and continue to keep the smoke and noise down.
