Kamala

What's in a name?
Did you know that Kamala Harris is named after a flower?  Kamala means, Lotus flower in Sanskrit.

Believe it or not, Kamala is also a name linked to Lakshmi, the Hindu goddess of good fortune.

Kamala was the name of my first pet, an AKC registered Old English Sheepdog. Believe it or not,

I have a tattoo of Kamala on my right arm. I bought this bitch in 1976 not only as a pet but for breeding purposes. Kamala was my favorite name back then.

I could get $500-600 per puppy back in those days after giving them their first shots at eight weeks of age. That was a lot of money back then, with inflation that was around $2,000 plus on today's market.

The old joke was my dog put me through college! The truth is my bitch helped me tremendously, along with my parents and many part-time jobs.

Kamala was also the name of the courtesan in the book Siddhartha-my all-time favorite novel

by Herman Hess.  When I was a young man I was obsessed with Hess and in my free time would read his novels at my favorite beach after a short swim and meditation.

Siddhartha tells the story of him spending twenty years with Kamala, in which they enjoy love-making,

however, they realize that neither of them knows how to love. Siddhartha says, 'I am like you. You also do not love--how else could you practice love as a craft?'

Kamala is represented as the most beautiful courtesan in town. She eventually becomes his great teacher of all things about physical love. However, there's a problem,

it seems that the woman who has made her life about not falling in love may have just started to fall for Siddhartha. When Siddhartha leaves, she decides to become a disciple of Buddha. She keeps a reminder of the past, her son with Siddhartha, also named Siddhartha. Ultimately, while traveling with her son, she is bitten by a snake and dies.

Politicians like Courtersans must be able to turn on the charm with people they despise.  Kamala Harris now acts like she enjoys Joe Biden. During the Democratic presidential primaries, besides being arch-rivals, Harris tore into Biden

over his comments about working with segregationist lawmakers and his views on busing.  Kamala was one of the first democrats to drop out of the race when her polling was as low as 2% and fundraising came to a near standstill. Joe Biden in spite of all this still chose her, not for her credentials, or friendship,  but is believed by many for her gender and race to make a politically correct ticket in this world of woke America and cancel culture.

As for present-day Kamala, you be the judge. Hess's character, a bitch dog, a politically correct puppet for the times,  or a goddess of good fortune?
Just remember she's a borderline giggling heartbeat away from the Presidency of the free world.  To quote Kamala, "I'm speaking!"
