The irony of a soda pop tax is there are many things that make us obese, and to single out soda pop is discriminatory. |
There is talk of a proposed bill in the state legislature to tax soda pop and other sugary drinks to the tune one cent per ounce. This is allegedly to help fight obesity? Give me a break. An insider told me this tax will also apply to diet soft drinks, a total hypocrisy since diet soda has no sugar.
The proposed law is discriminatory. my question is, what about chocolate covered mac nuts, shaved iced topped off with ice-cream, Hawaii's favorite plate lunch da Locomoco, cakes, pies , doughnuts, cookies and just plain over indulgence? Why just single out one caloric item?
Moderation is the answer. Why not just tax people going over a 2,000 a day calorie limit? Just implant a calorie intake counter in every citizen. If this sounds ridiculous so is a soda pop tax, fight for your right of choice.
Big brother is upon us, or in Hawaii let's just say, Big Bruddah.
