"NBA Player comes out, who cares..." James "Kimo" Rosen"

The May 8, 2013 edition of Sports Illustrated  features Jason Collins,
about a professional gay basketball player coming out of the closest.
should this be reason enough to make front cover of Sports Illustrated?

Aloha, Check out my opinion article in the (05-06-13) edition of the  Kaua'i Garden Island News, " What's News Anymore?"(Same as Blog)

You may call me old school since I don't understand why a NBA player  coming out of the closest  claiming he is gay makes front cover of Sports Illustrated?
http://www.justjared.com/2013/04/29/nba-player-jason-collins-comes-out-as-gay-man/

If Jason Collins had   broke a record, scored 50 points  or done something  remarkable in his Basketball profession he deserves to be the cover story of Sports Illustrated.

Just because you are gay is not reason enough to make the cover of Sports Illustrated.

On the other hand, if Tom Brady just led his team to a Superbowl victory, gay or straight that's a cover story.

Now if  a player  is not gay or doesn't have an imaginary girlfriend what can they do to make sports history?  I quit.

If Manti or his family are upset they need to get over themselves, heck, look at President Obama making fun of himself at the Whitehouse correspondence dinner, calling himself all sorts of things. Manti needs to be happy there talking about him, when they stop talking that's concern to worry. A cartoon or when they make a satire of you on Saturday live is the ultimate form of flattery meaning you've made it big!

" TIME TO PROTECT THOSE EYES..." 'Judith Whitehead' (Inspiration Sunday)

"Guest-blogger Judith Whitehead lives in Amherst N.Y. and has worked in the
ophthalmology field of medicine for over 30 years...
Today she talks about the joy of yard-work and to remember
 to protect your eyes,...Enjoy...  ;D)

TIME TO PROTECT THOSE EYES

It's Spring here on the East Coast and we are seeing many eye injuries coming in lately; eye protection people.

Yard work and lawn work, planting, trimming, digging, etc, all are done without thinking of protecting the eyes. Goggles or glasses do a lot for covering the eyes from flying debris,  branches jumping out and objects flying into the eyes from grass cutting.

Sometimes we are so excited to once again work in the yard we forget about the really important things.  Don't get an abrasion, infection or injury to your eyes; protect them before you enter the yard and enjoy the great weather.
