BEEP,BEEP, BEEP, BEEP, BEEP...

The Para transit  bus which is for those over 60 and the mentally and physically challenged comes to the community I live numerous times a day. It is  a phenomenal service for the elderly and disabled, however  the backup beeper can drive the surrounding neighbors to madness and hysteria.



Safety as an excuse for backup beepers, "it's bull."  Did you know that  nobody on the public buses on Kauai wear seat belts besides the driver? The same is true of school buses, let's make beeping noises that drive people crazy with the high pitch frequency but not require our keiki to strap up? Really?

The beeping goes on for minutes and is at an obnoxious high pitch that can drive one to insanity...

Technology for a Quieter America, the National Academy of Engineering cited backup beepers as one of the six top noise sources people associated with behavioral and emotional consequences.

Commercial vehicles are required in Hawaii to have beeping  backup lights when the motor vehicle is in reverse.
Have they actually kept anyone who wasn't looking from harm? 
Or are they just another manifestation of "The Fearful, Litigious Society"?
