"Failure to identify the enemy..." 'Walter Lewis' (Special to dakinetalk)

Please welcome guest-blogger, Mr. Walter Lewis.
“Walter Lewis, a retired lawyer and former columnist
who resides in Lihu'e Hawai'i”
Failure to identify the enemy

A tragedy of the Obama administration has been its inability to accept that America is under attack by Islamic terrorists This reality disrupts his desired legacy narrative that he kept us out of war but tends to explain his timid response.

A disturbing byproduct has been the failure by the President and many in his party to identify the enemy. He simply refuses to use the term “Islamic terrorists” to describe the threat being made. And
Hillary Clinton muddles the issue by asserting that we are at war with “Islamic radicals” but not with Islam.

On December 3, 2015
the N.Y. Post published
this controversial cover.

The Republican nomenclature is also defective. Their customary perhaps politically correct terminology is to refer to “Radical Islamic terrorists” No one has explained the intended meaning of the word “radical” in this context. If the word is used to mean those who support terrorism it is redundant and circumlocutory.

Wouldn't it be better to describe accurately our foe as Islamic terrorists and and set about the task of defeating them?

With all that's happening in the world
make sure to make time to watch the sunrise!

I posted the Donald Trump article banning all Muslims on Facebook also. Enclosed  are the comments. This is why I love America. We are free to voice our opinions: Check them out;

Bill Bruner Acting out of fear or hatred is the easy way out. To take a breath & discover compassion & love is the right path not always the easiest. We as a country have hated every ethnicity in this country at one time or another but we've learned to come together as a country & as individuals we need a leader not a talking head! My 2 cents worth.

Terrance K Brown As a matter of fact, if the KKK had done this, do you think anyone would be trying to understand why, and try to "take a breath & discover compassion & love" for a solution?!

Terrance K Brown It's only demagoguery if its not true! Which of my facts are untrue?

Pete Antonson Facts? what "facts" have you presented, Terrance? You've listed events, made associations, then jumped straight to a conclusion without ever presenting anything remotely like a fact filled argument!

Terrance K Brown Willful ignorance like this is going to people killed!

Terrance K Brown So I can assume from your statement, you believe that "events" and the expressed reasons for them that actually happened, are not facts?
LikeReply13 hrsEdited
Pete Antonson It is a "fact" that the events on your list happened. That is the beginning and end of that fact.

LikeReply13 hrs
Terrance K Brown I did not change any subject. So you believe that the Muslim practice of hate and murder is an acceptable practice? Is it Ok in your opinion to murder non-believers and in particular Jews and Christians?
LikeReply13 hrs
Pete Antonson I'm not talking to a terrorist right now, I'm talking to you! You seem to be supporting discrimination of all Muslims and will not address how that is religious bigotry.

Pete Antonson To characterize all Muslims as "practicing hate and murder" is another example of religious bigotry.
LikeReply113 hrs
Terrance K Brown Yes I am! For good reason! Those dead people in San Bernadino, Ca. thought they were partying with just another American co-worker! Americans argue all the time about everything, it's who we are, yet we don't have massacres every day. How do you tell the difference between a moderate Muslim and a terrorist?

Pete Antonson You have characterized all Muslims to be the same and then characterized them all to be terrorists. Neither is true.

Pete Antonson I am not. I've been a leader within the Methodist Church in Lihue for many years. I know enough to say that yours is a deeply minority opinion (not a fact). I have already called that opinion a fallacy. Discrimination against an entire race or religion is always wrong. It's been done in America before; but, you, and Trump will fail to make it happen again.
LikeReply113 hrs
Terrance K Brown It may have been a minority opinion in the past. I think that is about to change.
