A tragedy of the Obama administration has been its inability to accept that America is under attack by Islamic terrorists This reality disrupts his desired legacy narrative that he kept us out of war but tends to explain his timid response.
A disturbing byproduct has been the failure by the President and many in his party to identify the enemy. He simply refuses to use the term “Islamic terrorists” to describe the threat being made. And
Hillary Clinton muddles the issue by asserting that we are at war with “Islamic radicals” but not with Islam.

The Republican nomenclature is also defective. Their customary perhaps politically correct terminology is to refer to “Radical Islamic terrorists” No one has explained the intended meaning of the word “radical” in this context. If the word is used to mean those who support terrorism it is redundant and circumlocutory.
Wouldn't it be better to describe accurately our foe as Islamic terrorists and and set about the task of defeating them?

As a devout atheist, I am fed up with religion. A terrorist is a terrorist. He or she can be Christian, Muslim or Jew. Nothing is worse than a religious war. Isn't it time Americans grew up? if they want to believe in the Easter Bunny--or Allah. or Jehovah, or the Trinity--yhey are simply all insane or stupid. thank you Sam Harris. Enough.

Walter Lewis seems to have bought into the nonsense of Donald Trump’s fascism. We are the terrorists in the Middle East. We have done and continue to do more slaughter there killing innocents in several countries than they will ever do to us. If you remember, the perpetrators of 911 stated clearly that it was in return for our military presence in the Middle East, specifically in Saudi Arabia.
We armed and supported the Mujahideen (including Osama Bin Laden) to fight the Soviets. They morphed into Taliban and Al Qaeda. After overthrowing Saddam Hussein (a Sunni) for oil Iraq’s we push the Sunni’s into terrorism. With some more US support and influence we were able to transform the Sunni resistance to our invasion of Iraq into ISIS. We planned for them to go after our “enemy” Bashar al-Assad in Syria.
All the while we have been doing drone strikes and special ops in Libya, Syria, Yemen, Pakistan, Afghanistan, etc.
Who are sources of terrorists? America (and while we’re at it Israel and Saudi Arabia).
The world is spiraling down into World War IV around a blackhole centered in Damascus. The last thing we need is the Republican paranoid xenophobic claptrap that Walter Lewis is spouting.
