Please know the true reason for Memorial day.. Happy Memorial day and God bless America! |
Great politician, an oxymoron
Great politician is somewhat an oxymoron like jumbo shrimp, how can a politician be great. There are exceptions but are few and far between.
It's that time of year again where the narcissistic professional sign waivers come out of the closets and seem to block and occupy most busy sidewalks and intersections on the cosmic Garden island. These people hope to call themselves politicians come the next election.
There's the famous joke, "How do you know when a politician is lying?" "As soon soon as they start talking." What politician hasn't lied? I cannot think of one. That doesn't mean i dislike every politician, it just means to keep your nose on the trail and eye on the back wind. A phrase I lerarne d while hunting in Alaska.
I like to tell every potential political candidate I meet that I am voting for them even if I do not intend to. I'm not really lying, I ma just playing politician with a potential politician.
I always ask politician why is everything so expensive on Kauai, the best answer I ever heard was "In spite of the cost of living, it is still popular." Then I to find out the politician was quoting someone else, J.L. Peter.
After the elections there is no longer the need to block sidewalks or wave from their favorite street corner. For the hand wavers who win county council seats, it's now time to attend to their part time job which pays $56,000 a year, (an extra $7,000 for the chair) $500 a month car allowance, the best available health insurance known to man and woman-kind and free bus service for unlimited travel island wide of which most county employees never use.
Enjoy the hand-waving competition for it will soon be over, and make sure to vote for your favorite hand waiver this coming November. I still like the Miss America wave da best!
In spite of it all remember to re-elect nobody unless there a somebody.
