The NFL, The Hollywood elite, comedians,  all dictating politics
Big news! The NFL is currently in a frenzy loosing
thousands of viewers every week as fans boycott
watching NFL football

 This blog also appeared as an editorial in the Oct 4, 2017 edtion of the Garden Island news;

Why are comedians, actors and sports figures all of the sudden dictating politics? If I wanted to watch politics I would watch MSNBC, CNN,CSPAN, or FOX. When I watch late night talk shows, I want comedy, not
Late night talk show host
Steven Colbert has one punch
line, It's Donald Trump.Half
the country loves him, half the country
hates him.
the hosts personal views on politics, who cares? Just like I don't care about my favorite football player's personal view on politics. That's not what they get paid to do, or why people watch them. One of the many reasons we watch sports and comedy is to get away from the stress of politics, especially during  these modern days of mayhem.

NFL football has been ruined with politics by both players and now President Trump.

This past week President Trump said, If a player wants the privilege of making millions of dollars in the NFL, or other leagues,” Trump tweeted, “he or she should not be allowed to disrespect our Great American Flag (or Country) and should stand for the National Anthem. If not, YOU’RE FIRED. Find something else to do!”
http://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/20788354/president-donald-trump-speaks-nfl-player-protests
I find it baffling to see people up in arms about Trump concerning his remarks about NFL players taking a knee during the national anthem and in the same sentence saying it's the NFL players right to freedom of speech/protest. Like him or not, he's an American with those same rights as the players,President or not. Some people are completely blinded to their own hypocrisy.
Football players need to stick
to football.  I am ashamed this
statement came from a
player on my favorite team, the
Buffalo Bills.

Late night comedians, the Hollywood elite and sports personalities should all stay out of politics. The President in the same essence should concentrate on politics and stay out of football.  I may agree with the president however like the bible say's;
There is a time for everything,
and a season for every activity under the heavens:
Ecclesiastes 3:1

FYI-
ABC News reports 54% of Americans say NFL Football Players should stand for the Anthem!
Did you know----The specific rule pertaining to the national anthem is found on pages A62-63 of the NFL League Rule book. It states:
“The National Anthem must be played prior to every NFL game, and all players must be on the sideline for the National Anthem.
“During the National Anthem, players on the field and bench area should stand at attention, face the flag, hold helmets in their left hand, and refrain from talking. The home team should ensure that the American flag is in good condition...
...It should be pointed out to players and coaches that we continue to be judged by the public in this area of respect for the flag and our country. Failure to be on the field by the start of the National Anthem may result in discipline, such as fines, suspensions, and/or the forfeiture of draft choice(s) for violations of the above, including first offenses.”
So players get fined for excessive celebrations after a touchdown but Mike Tomlin Head coach of the Pittsburgh  Steelers takes his whole team off the field into the locker room for the national anthem when it's clearly against the rules. Fine every guy on this team!
BTW, one guy stayed behind; Army Vet & Steelers Player Alejandro Villanueva Stands For The Anthem While His Team Cowers In The Locker Room  (check out meme video)

P.S
Amen! I need to share this.. I didn't write it.. but it says what our flag truly stands for!You really  want to take a knee?
Take a little trip to Valley Forge in January. If you don't know where that is, just Google it from the sidelines. Hold a musket ball in your fingers and imagine it piercing your flesh and breaking a bone or two. There won't be a doctor or trainer to assist you until after the battle, so just wait your turn.Take your cleats and socks off to get a real experience. Then take a knee.
Then, take one at the beach in Normandy where man after American man stormed the beach, even as the one in front of him was shot to pieces...the very sea stained with American blood. The only blockers most had were the dead bodies in front of them, riddled with bullets from enemy fire.
Take a knee in the sweat soaked jungles of Vietnam. from Khe San to Saigon...Anywhere will do. Americans died in all those jungles. There was no playbook that told them what was next, but they knew what flag they represented. When they came home, they were protested as well..and spit on for reasons only cowards know.
Take another knee in the blood drenched sands of Fallujah in 110 degree heat..Wear your Kevlar helmet and battle dress...Your number won't be printed on it unless your number is up! You'll need to stay hydrated but there won't be anyone to squirt Gatorade into your mouth. You're on your own.
There's a lot of places to take a knee. Americans have given their lives all over the world. When you use the banner under which they fought as a source for your displeasure, you dishonor the memories of those who bled for the very freedoms you have. That's what the red stripes mean. It represents the blood of those who spilled a sea of it defending your liberty.
While you're on your knee, pray for those that came before you, not on a manicured lawn striped and printed with numbers to announce every inch of ground taken...but on nameless hills and bloodied beaches and sweltering forests and bitter cold mountains...every inch marked by an American life lost serving that flag you protest.
No cheerleaders, no announcers, no coaches, no fans...just American men and women...delivering the real fight against those who chose to harm us...blazing a path so you would have the right to "take a knee."
You haven't an inkling what it took to get you where you are...but your "protest" is duly noted. Not only is it disgraceful to a nation of real heroes, it serves the purpose of pointing to your ingratitude for those who chose to defend you under that banner that will still wave long after your jersey is retired...
If you really feel the need to take a knee, come with me to church on Sunday and we'll both kneel before Almighty God. We'll thank him for preserving this country for as long as He has. We'll beg forgiveness for our ingratitude for all He has provided us. We'll appeal to Him for understanding and wisdom. We'll pray for liberty and justice for all...because He is the one who provides those things.
But there will be no protest. There will only be gratitude for His provision and a plea for His continued grace and mercy on the land of the free and the home of the brave. It goes like this...
GOD BLESS AMERICA!

P.S.S.

Comments from Buffalo Bills  Facebook page; These are the first comments posted, as you can see 99% of them are in favor of standing for the national anthem.
Jack Klenk
Jack Klenk, As a two time Iraq war veteran, I cannot in good conscience leave it on. Listen, you are free to believe in what you want, but I served with good men who have lost their lives standing up for the flag. It is incompatible with my experiences in life and I refuse to play party to it.

Your free to kneel. I'm free to switch channels.

Kevin Frier
Kevin Frier I'm always proud to be a bills fan and an American, and whether you choose to sit or stand for the national anthem, support the president or not, it's entirely up to you, you know why, because this is America, and we have our rights to freedom of speech and expression, wherever your political beliefs lie. Now, let's watch some football.

Bruce Kuntz
Bruce Kuntz, If you can't stand for the national anthem and respect the flag take it off your uniform, after serving 20 years defending this country and flag i find your kneeling to be the ultimate in disrespect I have ever seen, after being a fan for over 50 years I am done today.god bless America!

Melissa Lynne Luvison My boyfriend and I got tickets to take our 6 year old son to his first Bills game at the end of October and we will not be attending. I am heartbroken because I love the Bills but I love my Country and my flag more. I suppose it's their right to kneel but it's my right to not support them or the NFL.

Sandy Bandy
Sandy Bandy The only time one should kneel is TO THANK GOD He gave you the ability to play and to play in AMERICA...Our Flag and Anthem should be a REMINDER of the RESPECT we should have for OUR VETERANS WHO FOUGHT FOR OUR FREEDOM. Politics and views SHOULD STAY OFF THE FIELD. I can't do it at work, neither should the NFL....You kneel, WE WALK....

Hana Hou, Encore!

President Donald Trump took aim at NFL players who participated
and are participating in the National Anthem protests, calling them
“son’s of bitches”. Colin Kaepernick’s mother, Teresa Kaepernick,
had a few words of her own.

“That makes me a proud bitch!” she said on twitter
