Local Kaua'i Politics..." James "Kimo" Rosen

Kaua'i is eye candy to ones eyes,  however with only one major  road to get around an island of over 60,000 is somewhat of a nebulous scenario..."  Even if you are not a resident this could effect you if you ever visit our cosmic hamlet, so read on..."

This blog  also appeared ironically this same day 01-09-12 in the Kauai Garden Island news as an opinion article titled, "More roads and trails..."

Mr. Micken's recent  Letter to the editor"Solving Kauai's transportation woes," is half right. http://thegardenisland.com/news/opinion/mailbag/letters-for-friday-january/article_4df33118-3841-11e1-ae66-0019bb2963f4.html
Mr. Mickens states,"Get those cane haul roads open starting with the long-time controversial “emergency” road from the Wailua River to the Hanama‘ulu turn off. The “temporary” Kapa‘a bypass road is a shinning example of a successful operation put in place years ago."
I am in total agreement that our cosmic hamlet needs more roads. One major road from one end of the island to the other is somewhat nebulous. More roads means less traffic, less stress, and options during emergencies.
On the other hand I am in total dis-agreement on Glen's assumption that 95% of the island population feels the pedestrian trail is being shoved down it's throat, in actuality it is the best use of taxpayer I have ever witnessed on Kauai.
I know many people who bike , walk and bus as their primary means of transportation, myself included in this mix.
My question to Mr. Mickens, why can't we have both, why one without the other as you seem to debate ?More roads and more trails. Who say's we can't have our poi and eat it too.
