NEW AGE WASHERS & ADVANCES IN MODERN TECHNOLOGY...

It has been 35 years since I have had to replace my washing machine…it is vintage all right.  It weighs a ton, made of heavy metal and shakes the room when it spins.  I decided to break down and buy a new one since it no longer spins fast enough to wring out the clothes and makes the poor dryer,  that is also an oldie, spin for 1-2 hours just to dry the clothing.

So I decided to explore the world of new age washing machines.  First of all, they look nothing like the one I had been using.  That old workhorse was obsolete in style and fashion.  What really opened my eyes was the new age prices that went along with the machines.  They had some with so many buttons on them,   it would take a  hour to read the manual  every  time a load of wash was to be done.  All I wanted was a simple, easy machine to use that just washed the clothing efficiently.  After much deliberation, I think we found the perfect one.  It was white, not a fancy color that was much more money, and had the least amount of buttons to push. It met all my criteria and it was on sale which was at the top of the list. 

Although I felt bad when they hauled the old one outside, I was able to get over it after a few loads of wash with my new machine.  Not only does my new washer spin at warp speed but it is quiet as it spins and we can still talk while it is in operation.  It uses much less water and gets the clothing much cleaner.  I think we made a good decision….now to think about what kind of dryer to investigate.  It is living on borrowed time as well, but is still hanging on.
