Politics and religion can turn vitriolic
Letting your politics be known publicly is a cancer. I was brought up with both parents stressing never share your political or religious beliefs with strangers.
Fast forward many decades later... Because of my politics I have lost many friends and have been given stink eye in local business establishments.
There is a privacy curtain in the voting booth for a reason.
I need to learn and heed the example of Kaua'i Mayor Bernard Carvalho, he will not give his public endorsement for either candidate currently running for Kaua'i Mayor.

If only I could keep my mouth shut on politics and religion.
It took me 63 years to figure out my parents were right!

Probably because his endorsement would hurt the candidate rather than help. Traffic and home/rent prices have skyrocketed during his watch while thousands of gentlemen estates/unaffordable homes have been built for transplants. Oh yeah and remember that GMO/chemcial company thing that's continuing to reek havoc. Not talking about politics is what led us down the path of the plantation mentality.
What's vitriolic is when leaders are doing bad things and everyone is too scared or reserved to speak up allowing those bad things to continue.
I will also add that silence is what led to thousands of kids getting raped by the Catholic Church. Just saying.
Same here James Kimo Rosen I lost many friends over politics.? That’s when you know who our true friends are. Isn’t that crazy?
