Fear thy neighbor, humans incapable of peace

How can we expect peace in the world when we combat it daily in our own backyards?

We fight with spouses,

significant others, friends, and neighbors and call the cops.  There’s even a show about this on cable TV called, “Fear thy neighbor.”

We divorce our spouses and have domestic disputes with significant others at times requiring

emergency care, other times resulting in murder. Siblings fight and at times result in bloodshed and broken bones. Schools, shopping malls and houses of worship have all been targets of mass shootings. Many of these real-life stories can be seen on TV shows like Dateline and 48 Hours.

Social media is full of hate

and if you've ever written an opinion piece for a periodical comments sections are full of evil and even murder threats with the vitriol thrown out by the readers.

How can we expect

peace in the Middle East amongst Jews and Muslims, Israel and Palestine, even our own political system if we can't even have peace with family, friends, and neighbors or write an opinion piece without attacks?

Peace is something great

for politicians and hippies to campaign and talk story on but is something that humans will never achieve on planet Earth.

Thought-provoking article, Kimo.
Thank you for sharing it with me.

You’re so right, Kimo! Why don’t we emphasize good news and kindness, for a change?

just friendly, the major networks have attempted good news TV shows over the years and they get terrible ratings. People love to hear about others' misfortunes, it allegedly makes them feel better about their own lives.

That was a very disheartening blog, Kimo. I know there is bad stuff happening in the world, and I feel the world's pain and try to do whatever I can to help. But that world is not my world! I surround myself with uplifting and inspirational people. My own attitude attracts postivity. Just because some people are suffering doesn't mean the whole world has to fall into an abyss. Just look around you and find something- anything that is positive, and you will begin to see the world differently.

Harmony Bentosino I get it and I do. Every day I welcome the sunrise. I’m talking society as a whole. If we can’t keep peace between husband and wife and neighbors how will there ever be peace in the Middle East. The Israel-Hamas is ever ending.

Looking back at your article, I do see something positive. You posted a lot of funny cartoons with it!

Harmony Bentosino said...

It is sad, but I don't let it ruin my life, & keep on welcoming the sunrise.

KimoRosen said...

Harmony Bentosino Its not ruining my life, it’s just my opinion

Glad to hear that.

Not even sure what the point of this letter is. In a world with 8 billion people there will be conflict. Despite all that's going on today, humanity as a whole still lives much better than they did at almost any time in history. And if you only focus on the bad, you will always feel there isn't hope. Perspective is key.

You can't, but do it anyway.

Don't allow ignorant, misinformed, petty trolls to keep you from voicing your opinion.

Kimo, I will not argue with you but the other side of the coin is just as black. I've been giving it a lot of thought and much of it I believe is greed. You have oil and I want it. I'm a bigger bully than you so I'll just take it.
Same as with relationships. You have more power (in my mind) than I have so I'll take it from you.
This has been the unfortunate ending for many peaceful years and peoples.
In my own life, I was married to a man whom thought himself above the rest both mentally and emotionally. Unfortunately he made a HUGE mistake and married me. I was his equal in every way. He was an engineer who drew blue prints for Alaskan fishing boats. I was a peon who took on city hall, the state government, and saved one of the last CCC corp buildings that had not been burned, assimilated, or otherwise damaged, with no cost, only donations, and donated labor. People started telling him how lucky he was to have someone like me. That's where the fertilizer hit the fan. He also found out I could down and dirty fight. So much for greed.
