Kauai Council elects new chair, who should be the couch?
  

The voting of the county chair is now history on the Cosmic Garden Island. Mazel Tov to Arryl Kaneshiro as the newly elected chair.

With all the drama behind us it seems like a fine detail was somehow forgotten with all the hoopla.

I am confident that Arryl will perform his duty as chair  and let anybody sit on him whenever they are tired or need a break as is the job of a chair--- and the vice chair, Ross Kagawa, one of the nicest guys one could ever meet, will also serve when Arryl cannot  as a chair to accommodate those who need a place to sit and rest.  Both men definitely look the part and will be good comfortable chairs.

Now we must decide whose going to be the couch?   The couch does not necessarily have to be a big person, just be willing to serve and have more than one person sitting on them at a time.

Just like fraternity and pledges one of the 2 new county council members should be considered as the new couch. They are the ones that will get  their chops most busted.  Robert’s Rules of dis-Order,(sic)  also states that the couch is voted by constituent's of the county , not  council members.
So, let's cast our votes now  for either Felicia Cowden or Luke Evslin. KipuKai Kuali‘i would had been considered as a new member however he has served before on council.

The couch should not go undecided.

There was a recent headline in the local newspaper about the decline of Humpback whales returning to the Hawaiian islands. Scientists are attributing it to climate change/global warning. I decided to have some fun with a little tongue-n-cheek adult humor. It's time we all laugh at Trump, Stormy Daniel's and this whole  mess we're all in.   No need to tell me I'm wrong, this was all written in fun.  

On a serious note we are sending thoughts and prayers to our friends  and relatives in Alaska that just suffered a 7.0 earthquake on Friday November 30,2018--and Happy Chanukkah to all our Jewish friends. My friend and Rabbi on Kauai, Rabbi Michoel Goldman coined the slogan, "Happy Chanukauai!"

Where are the whales?

I was just talking story with a friend about how I haven't seen as many whales the last few years. I use to see them from my front door with binoculars looking out into the ocean, another fringe benefit where I live.

The news this past week on Kauai was that humpback sightings are down as much as 80%.  The Humpback Whales feed in Alaska in the summer months

and journey to the Hawaiian Islands to mate in the winter months-- not a bad lifestyle. Many believe warmer waters because of climate change/global warming may have hindered the process?

The real reason the whales are not returning and the scientists are not speaking out  is the following;

1-The whales are  tired of fighting the traffic of so many species traveling in bumper to bumper schools of fish when all they want to do is make love.

2-All the homeless monk seals on the beach and all the attention the seals get make them not want to come back...

3-They can no longer afford the high cost of  rent imposed by greedy fish-lords(sic) and are demanding affordable rents on their ocean-front water...

4-The whales are sick and tired of long lines at the veterinary clinics when they need to go for their annual blowhole exams.

5-The high price of Ahi and sushi has sky rocketed...

6-They no longer feel the serenity and calm

of the islands, they are overcrowded with too many other species, including human beings.

7-It’s time to re-organize or else no whale will ever want to return to "Paradise" 

When Donald Trump

was questioned about the whale situation he replied, he had no idea that Rosie O'Donnell was not returning to Hawaii.

Trump also said, "Global warming is a hoax and that he personally knows that the whales are not staying away because of global warning or the excuses the whales themselves  give.

Trumps say's "Believe me, Stormy Daniels is actually responsible for the Humpback whales small numbers not returning to Hawaii-- because Stormy taught them how to hump and now they don't want to leave her side."

In fact President Trump says, "that is how the 'Humpbacks' got their name." Believe me, believe me," he reiterated.

Michael Avenatti , Stormy Daniels attorney is  recusing  himself from this case because he enjoys humping and feels this is a conflict of interest plus he was recently accused  accused of spousal abuse.This is the guy whose suppose to defeat Trump in 2020?

It is believed the whales have paid Stormy hush money to not divulge where they are  actually hanging out. 

We all know Stormy cannot keep a secret--and special

counsel Robert Mueller says, he will have a decision soon on the long drawn out "Whale investigation," where President Trump

say's there is collusion with the whales. This all while President Trump's former fixer and attorney Michael Cohen says, "President Trump is lying, he knew Rosie O'Donnell was not returning to Hawaii with the whales.

Now you know the rest of the story!  Oy!

And finally, James Sean Shields  who suffered a heart attack during the Hawaii missile alert 
 sues  the state of Hawaii. Whose to say he would not have suffered the exact same heart attack, the exact same day ,the exact same second? And on that theory everyone in the state could get involved in a class action lawsuit. We all suffered undue stress. We are living in a whacked out sue happy get quick rich society--where what this guy doesn't realize  is that the only that comes out on top is the attorney. Even if he wins, he will find out the attorney is the real winner!   ;-)

 Armageddon is a reality, just watch the news

Every day there is a new natural disaster somewhere. Most recently the California wildfires were devastating,

like none other. There is literally nothing left of the town of 'Paradise' in Northern California. The cause of the "Campfire" wildfire is under investigation. Paradise was NOT caused by a campfire. It was called “Campfire” because it was named for the nearby Campfire Road.  The fires destroyed a whole city and claimed hundreds of lives. People burnt to death driving to escape in their cars, like something from the Twilight zone. The images were shocking, similar to those of Armageddon depicted in horror movies I witnessed as a child.
Paradise’s name is a source of some mystery.

An alternate spelling ~Paradice~(sic) found on some early maps gave way to the theory that 'Paradise' wasn’t named for its heavenly qualities, but instead the similar-sounding phrase, “pair of dice.”
 The town of Paradise was also  featured in the 1939  cinema classic "Gone With the Wind"

Simultaneously in Southern California the Woosley fires in parts of Los Angeles and Ventura counties including Thousand Oaks destroyed hundreds

 of homes. Many of those were mansions belonging to celebrities. This all while a mass shooter on the eve of the fires gunned down 12 people at the Borderline country western bar in Thousand Oaks. Why do people commit such heinous acts?  The images are devastating and look like the end of the world.

Last July in Greece fast-moving wildfires near Athens  killed nearly a hundred people  and  forced thousands of tourists and residents to run for their lives and jump aboard boats and makeshift rafts. People had to run in desperation into the Agean waters to escape death.

 If you turn on the news, every evening there are reports of breaking  news of a devastating natural disaster somewhere. Hurricanes, Fires, Floods, Tsunamis, Tidal waves, Typhoons, Earthquakes, Snowstorms, Heatwaves, all of biblical proportions happening daily...

 Where I live in Hawaii we've had major floods and volcanic eruptions of major devastation  this past year of the likes we haven't ever seen. Every time

it rains I now  panic. I used to love the sound of rain and the serenity it brought.
The sound of rain bouncing off my roof is no longer soothing, but always has me thinking of flooding and what else can go wrong.

Our neighbor Japan suffered the Fukushima nuclear power plant

disaster in 2011 triggered by a 9.0 earthquake, followed by one of the deadliest tidal waves and tsunami's in history.

Mass shootings have become a common breaking news item. This was never the norm. As of November 7, 2018 there have been  307 mass shootings this past year

in America, that's almost one a day!  Hawai'i, where I live, last January there was a  Ballistic missile scare where families were jumping into manhole covered sewer's for protection. 2018 has been the worst for natural disasters and mass shootings in history, how much more can civilization endure?
