Stand together and protest Mideast wars

Why the be-headings?

As the most vocal devout nonbeliever on Kauai, I could quote passages — chapter and verse — from the Old and New Testament-that would curl your hair
(You might try Numbers 25-3-4). It’s time to move on.

Please, Christians, stop cherry picking. Your God is as fierce, maybe fiercer, than theirs. And has committed as many wrongful acts as theirs. For a longer time, too. Our troops, today, are out there with a gun in one hand and a Bible in the other. Don’t fool yourselves. Also, remember: we — you and I as American citizens — are guilty, too.
We’re in their territory, murdering innocent men, women, and children.
I don’t understand why good Christians are not standing with good Muslims and good Jews and even good Atheists — in the streets — protesting these insane wars in the Mideast.

I’ll walk with you on the home-front... Been there, done that. Had hoped I’d not been forced — by my conscience — to do it again. Trust me, it takes courage.

Well said Bettejo, "I don’t understand why good Christians are not standing with good Muslims and good Jews and even good Atheists — in the streets — protesting these insane wars in the Mideast. " AMEN!

As an atheist, I agree the abrahamic God is despicable.
However, the situation in the Mideast is far more complicated than the senseless Vietnam war -which was very easy to protest against.
Don't get me wrong. I don't think our troops should have been engaged anywhere near the level they have. Better yet, I feel maybe a couple Navy Seals teams should have just been sent over there to just apprehend the idiots who coordinated the attack against our country & bring them to justice. (And we certainly had no business going into Iraq.)
But, that damage is done & we have the Bush family to blame for that.

The comparison of US soldiers carrying bibles to those people in the Mideast is not a fair comparison because US soldiers did not go into war due to feeling compelled by some twisted religious reasons but because they were commanded to by our president.

Those in the Mideast, however, all fight their wars & commit disgusting crimes against one another directly as a result & "inspiration" of their twisted ideologies.

It is such a messy and horrible situation in the Mideast -even before our troops arrived there. I sure wish I knew the solutions.

For quick reference to Bettejo's scripture:

//25:3 And Israel joined himself unto Baalpeor: and the anger of the LORD was kindled against Israel.
25:4 And the LORD said unto Moses, Take all the heads of the people, and hang them up before the LORD against the sun, that the fierce anger of the LORD may be turned away from Israel.//

I don't intend to offend anyone & I do respect other's beliefs (when not extremist), but you must admit there are some pretty disgusting things in the Old Testament.

Me, I am a believer. I believe all religions work, there is more than one way to get to Rome. I like to refer myself as a poly-denominational spirit. i know that sounds new age, oh well, so be it!

As long as you're not beheading people, stoning people to death, or trying to control other people's human rights, we're all good.

we are in the MidEast. We are murdering innocent men and women and children. With every death we create ten terrorists. Creating endless wars. It's called fascism. Lots of profit in wars. Oil men get rich. Everybody knows Jesus was a rich Republican oilman. ENOUGH!!!

There is absolutely nothing worse than a religious war. Do you think, maybe, this is what Dymbya and his psychopathic buddies had in mind.

Religions are organized money makers to control minds & pocket book !

KimoRosen said...

Religion is good for many, however it's also a business...No reason that religious business should be tax free. Puts more burden on the hard working taxpayer...

Bettejo Dux said...

Religion is most assuredly a business. Always needs money. No taxes. Arguments and 'fights' are okay. Deliberately making a profit from murdering innocent men, women and children-destroying a country- is a crime. Better we build factories and put people to work producing windmills, photo voltaic panels, anything productive to life and living things--than build another nutty nuclear sub. Enough!!!

It's not fair that churches do not contribute to the tax burden of America, especially the ultra rich ones that flaunt their wealth.

Chester "Unc" Lau said...

Churches are good only if they practice what they preach or do they ? they can't even stop for centuries of sectarian wars !!! we veterans fought to protect ALL,why no tax from churches ? ,let's tax them retroactively to when this tax free law began ,& refund those taxes to all tax payers & their families !!!

Do anyone know the wealth of the Vatican ? we should invade the Vatican instead of Iraq & Afghanistan !!!

Unc, to answer your question; Bankers' best guesses about the Vatican's wealth put it at $10 billion to $15 billion. Of this wealth, Italian stockholdings alone run to $1.6 billion, 15% of the value of listed shares on the Italian market. The Vatican has big investments in banking, insurance, chemicals, steel, construction, real estate. Dividends help pay for Vatican expenses and charities such as assisting 1,500,000 children and providing some measure of food and clothing to 7,000,000 needy Italians. Unlike ordinary stockholders, the Vatican pays no taxes on this income, http://content.time.com/.../article/0,9171,833509,00.html
