A job draft, similar to the NFL draft

The National Football League has an annual college draft. The draft is to get the best of the best college players into the NFL.

The format for the draft is simple, the NFL team with the worst record gets the first draft pick, second worse team, the second draft pick, and on from there.   There are undrated players that make it to the pros, however
are few and far between.

Now imagine, teachers having a draft? You would have the  principal or the  college deans going to universities  and scouting out the teachers who had the best grades and the best student teacher performances. Personality and charisma would also play an integral part. Those  would be the first to be drafted and demand a big pay day.

There would be a  large number of teachers that would never get drafted, they would  come at a much lower price tag.

We could take into account other professions as well. Imagine the same scenario with  EMT's, police, firemen, plumbers, electricians, doctors, nurses, CEO's, and yes, even lawyers!

Did you know, that even the NFL third string players make a minimum of $295,000 a year and will most likely not see any actually playing time. Guys on the practice squad and not even officially on any NFL team make a minimum of $6,600 a week-- and if other teams are looking at those practice squad players, their salary can go up considerably.   (Click on links below for more info)

Maybe it's time that  other professions take the ranks of  the NFL and make some real money!

Very interesting concept of getting the right people for the right job!!
In fact, Kimo be sure and watch today's council meeting as a lot came up about hiring people in the county for political reasons and not for being qualified. One of the very reasons we need a county manager because we have the wrong people sailing this ship. Not having a lot of natural ability in baseball I had to fight hard to get to the top but I had to prove that I was good enough to get there and just being "friends" with the manager wasn't going to get me the job.
Everyone who runs our county should be made to have qualifications for whatever job they get---from the Mayor on down.
