Close call on the pedestrian trail in Kapaa on Thursday ,8-30-18.
I was walking my dog around 11:00 AM Thursday, a man in his mid 60's careened his SUV of the Oceanside side cliffs opposite Friendship house around 10:00 AM. Thank God nobody on the trail was injured. The man walked away with no injuries. The police were calling it a miracle that nobody was injured. |
The weather people employed by the major network affiliates in Hawaii seem to never get it right.
Last week 5 days prior to Hurricane Lane's alleged arrival there was 24-7 coverage interrupting my favorite TV shows to buy bottled water, Spam, Ramen noodles and toilet paper.
They interrupted pre-season football and worst of all Judge Judy.
This went on for days, be ready they said, fill your bath tub with water, have extra batteries for the radio and some candles ready when the electricity eventually goes out.
When it rains hard my back door will occasionally flood. After the April floods I went on Amazon and purchased a Hydro barrier, it's an alternative to sandbags. I cannot lift sandbags due to my spinal condition. The hydro barrier is great, just bring the hose to fill it up!
It’s not that I don’t like Guy Hagi of 'Hawaii News Now,' Justin Cruz of 'KHON' or Pete Caggiano of 'KITV-Island News,' however with 3 major
network affiliates reporting constant weather for 3 days you'd think someone would had gotten it right? Back in April during the worst floods in Kauai's history there was no warning by any of these weatherman/meteorologists
The icing on the cake all 3 networks
said we dodged a bullet in Hawaii and here on Kauai the hurricane has passed us by...--Then last Monday and Tuesday August 27th and 28th we had major flooding again on Kauai's North and South shores. We are sad to report Kauai had a fatality of a man dying rescuing a dog in a flooded stream.

Next time please don't interrupt my favorite TV shows. My TV shows relieve my stress, the weatherman give me stress. Most everyone has smart phones and
we can wait for the morning shows, noon news, 5:00-6:00-9:00 and 10:00 o'clock news for any not so breaking news.
Please don't interrupt my favorite TV shows especially NFL football games to tell me of the weather you think may be coming, even if it's a ballistic missile scare, I really don't want to know, because if it's for real we're all gonna die any way.
Local meteorologists please take note of how to report accurate weather!
My favorite all time weather report, by the late George Carlin, "Weather forecast for tonight:
Dark, continued dark overnight, with widely scattered light by morning."
That's one they never get wrong! Along with the famous Mexican weather report of, "Chili today and hot Tamale."
Stay dry and safe, Hurricane season is not over until November.

For preparations for Hurricane Lane I Flex taped the seams of my back door and used a hydro barrier acting as a sandbag. in case of flooding... Hydro barriers may be purchased on Amazon and act as sandbags... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HFbckDeF4HE |

I like Judge Judy too!!!
I have seen Oahu from Home Depot on Kauai.
I can see Russia from here.
Kimo,
I do a weekly news report to assisted living homes for seniors. Recently, I reported on a new forecasting system called FV3 (can be Googled). It was developed for NOAA when a lot of professionals noticed that U.S. forecasts were often wrong, but European forecasts for areas in the U.S. were pin-point accurate. FV3 will come live in 2019. Until then...
Allena
Chili today & hot tamale. Love it!
yes, Kimo, you are so right!
