Armageddon is a reality, just watch the news

Every day there is a new natural disaster somewhere. Most recently the California wildfires were devastating,
like none other. There is literally nothing left of the town of 'Paradise' in Northern California. The cause of the "Campfire" wildfire is under investigation. Paradise was NOT caused by a campfire. It was called “Campfire” because it was named for the nearby Campfire Road.  The fires destroyed a whole city and claimed hundreds of lives. People burnt to death driving to escape in their cars, like something from the Twilight zone. The images were shocking, similar to those of Armageddon depicted in horror movies I witnessed as a child.
Paradise’s name is a source of some mystery.
An alternate spelling ~Paradice~(sic) found on some early maps gave way to the theory that 'Paradise' wasn’t named for its heavenly qualities, but instead the similar-sounding phrase, “pair of dice.”
The town of Paradise was also  featured in the 1939  cinema classic "Gone With the Wind"
https://www.sacbee.com/news/state/california/fires/article221433130.html
Simultaneously in Southern California the Woosley fires in parts of Los Angeles and Ventura counties including Thousand Oaks destroyed hundreds
of homes. Many of those were mansions belonging to celebrities. This all while a mass shooter on the eve of the fires gunned down 12 people at the Borderline country western bar in Thousand Oaks. Why do people commit such heinous acts?  The images are devastating and look like the end of the world.
https://abcnews.go.com/US/multiple-people-injured-reported-mass-shooting-california-bar/story?id=59050130
Last July in Greece fast-moving wildfires near Athens  killed nearly a hundred people  and  forced thousands of tourists and residents to run for their lives and jump aboard boats and makeshift rafts. People had to run in desperation into the Agean waters to escape death.
https://www.nytimes.com/2018/07/24/world/europe/greece-fire-deaths.html

Greece wildfires had people running for their lives
into the ocean for safety.
If you turn on the news, every evening there are reports of breaking  news of a devastating natural disaster somewhere. Hurricanes, Fires, Floods, Tsunamis, Tidal waves, Typhoons, Earthquakes, Snowstorms, Heatwaves, all of biblical proportions happening daily...
April 2018, flood on Kauai

Where I live in Hawaii we've had major floods and volcanic eruptions of major devastation  this past year of the likes we haven't ever seen. Every time
Lava from  flow Kilauea Volcano
crossing a road and damaging
power transmission equipment.
it rains I now  panic. I used to love the sound of rain and the serenity it brought.

The sound of rain bouncing off my roof is no longer soothing, but always has me thinking of flooding and what else can go wrong.

Our neighbor Japan suffered the Fukushima nuclear power plant
disaster in 2011 triggered by a 9.0 earthquake, followed by one of the deadliest tidal waves and tsunami's in history.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w3AdFjklR50
Mass shootings have become a common breaking news item. This was never the norm. As of November 7, 2018 there have been  307 mass shootings this past year
in America, that's almost one a day!  Hawai'i, where I live, last January there was a  Ballistic missile scare where families were jumping into manhole covered sewer's for protection. 2018 has been the worst for natural disasters and mass shootings in history, how much more can civilization endure?
https://www.businessinsider.com/how-many-mass-shootings-in-america-this-year-2018-2
Armageddon is a reality for myself and many others.
Global warming, climate change, call it what you wish, however just watch the news-- God's truth was told many years ago.
God bless us all...

Publishers note;
This is a non political blog. My non political blogs usually don't get near as many views as the blogs that are politically motivated.
Local politics do well, the blogs that do best are the blogs that have anything to do with 45, POTUS, (The Donald) Trump. People are obsessed with Trump. There was a study that found every American brings up Trump daily in conversation, from his most avid supporters to his staunch haters. Many of my Trump related blogs average 1,500-2,000 views, local politics will bring in half that and non political blogs  like today's blog, " I just found out I won Publishers Clearing House,"will receive a few less. Therefore if you ever wonder why I blog so much about Trump, "you now know the rest of the story."
Trump is good for numbers, not just for this blog but for the network news, newspapers, magazines and any media. Trump knows this, the network's know this, I know this and this is why Trump will continue to win the presidency in 2020. Next week I will go back to blogging about Trump!--WHY?  Because my blog numbers go way up, along with the not so much fun of stink eye from many seen on the streets.  ;-)

Maybe it's time we all stopped talking politics? It seems to be dividing the country, even Bill Maher who makes a living talking politics has the same message for Thanksgiving! A must watch YouTube!

I just found out I won Publishers Clearing House
Plus- A special Thanksgiving   message from Bill Maher to stop the political divide

I was relaxing last Monday watching Monday Night Football and for some strange reason  I picked up the phone, 99.9% of the time I screen all calls on my old fashioned answering machine. The person on the other end congratulated me
and identified themselves as Todd Sloane, an executive with Publishers Clearing House. He asked if I had ever heard of them? (Who hasn't?)  He then went on to say, "I was the first place Grand prize winner of $3.9 million dollars and $7,500 weekly for life along with a brand new Mercedes Bentz!"

OK, I said, is this for real? How much money do you want, is this a scam, I wasn't born yesterday. "No scam, just listen." He went on  and on. I heard a dog barking in the back ground. I said Mr. Sloane, is that a dog I hear? "Yes, we have security dogs here to protect all our money and prizes."(haha)

He said his team was in my area, "do you want this to be private or public when they show up to take photos tomorrow?" Private I said, I don't want everyone hitting me up for money all at once.  "Make sure and be wearing a nice suit or your favorite outfit!"

He asked, "what I would do with the money?" I said I would purchase a nice place of my own  and make investments to set myself up for the rest of my life. I would give to my favorite charities and set up a homeless shelter.(You know I was once homeless myself...) "Oh, that's wonderful he said." I also said I would give him a huge tip! ("Oh, Mr. Rosen the Lord is going to bless you, Jesus loves you!")

He went on to talk about how the IRS collects taxes on large sums of money coming into my state from NY state. "It is required for them to take a percentage of the taxes up front, but those taxes would be returned when you get your prize money?"  I played along. I thought you weren't asking for money?  "You see, this is the IRS not PCH, they need the $825.00, not PCH." I said, sir I am a senior citizen on a fixed income living on Social security. I cannot afford anything close to that. Plus you said there was no money up front. No, the IRS requires this of us to release this prize to you. "Bark, bark," the security  dogs are going off again in the background...(Oy vey!)

He finally says, because he is a man of the Lord he will help me, because he knows I am a good man and will do good things with my prize. How much can I afford to send him and he will personally take care of the rest?

Mr. Sloane, I can't let you do that, let me call you back and I'll call my friends and see if I can borrow some money to collect the $825.00. "When will you call back," I said by Friday, "that's to late he said, "the prize people are only in your area for one day, you need to let me know by tomorrow at 9:00 AM." There goes those security dogs again, probably in Nigeria.  ;-)

OK Mr. Sloane give me your phone # , he gives me a phone number 347-997-5326. He asked me to repeat it to him slowly and make sure I call him by 9:00 AM to claim my first place prize.

I get off the phone and my first call was to the Kauai Police Department.
The dispatch was very informative and confirmed this was an on-going scam. I said this guy was convincing and I am hip to current events and the news. I could easily see some lonely senior falling for this. I wanted to fall for it, but I knew better, plus I didn't have $825.00. However I am guessing Mr. Sloane would had settled for $50.00, $25.00, even 5.00. I should've had some more fun and seen how far I could had bargained?

The dispatcher was relieved I gave no bank, credit or debit card numbers. She said there's really nothing they can do because these people are usually operating from outside the country, however if it makes me feel better she would send an officer to come talk to me. I said no need, I just want to make a report. Thank you KPD and please everyone beware.

If you get a call that you won a prize and are asked for money up front, It's a scam! Hang Up!
For a short minute, I actually fantasized about
going form rags to riches. A TV show from
my childhood popped into my head. (The Beverley Hillbillies)
I could be the Jed Clampett of Kauai!  ;-)
I must admit, for just a minute I actually fantasized what would I do with all that money?I felt like one of the Beverley Hillbillies!  Thank you for the dream Mr. Sloane.

Morrow of the story, when it sounds to good to be true, it usually is.

“ Scam call worthless but for a good laugh”

P.S.
Publishers Clearing House impostors keep coming

If you think you’ve won a prize, here are a few things to know:

1-Never send money to collect a prize, sweepstakes check, or lottery winnings. If you have to pay, it’s a scam.

2`Never deposit a check and send back money, even if the funds appear in your account. That’s a sure sign of a scam.

3`If anyone calls asking you to pay for a prize, hang up and report it to the FTC.

Congratulations to all the winners in this years elections. There are 3 new county council people on Kauai. (Felicia Cowden, Luke Evslin, and KipuKai Kuali‘i.)
"Felicia Cowden came from behind to win the seventh and final council seat in Tuesday’s general election. She’ll join incumbents Mason Chock, Arryl Kaneshiro, Ross Kagawa and Authur Brun on the council, along with challenger Luke Evslin and former councilman, KipuKai Kuali‘i." TGI
Derek Kawakami  beat Mel Rapozo in a blowout election. The people on Kauai have spoken.

Just Imagine, Governor Kawakami and Mayor Rapozo

I can always pick the winner of any reality show by going to the final contestant's Facebook page and looking at their likes and how many followers they have. Every year I

pick 'America's got talent,' 'The voice' and 'American Idol' by this method. This same concept can be applied to predicting political races.

When I frequented Mel Rapozo's Facebook page he would have many likes for a sign waiving or special event, maybe 50-60.  Derek Kawakami for the same type event could have 300-500 likes. Believe it or not Derek once  posted a photo of himself eating a cheeseburger
at In-n-out burger in California and got over 300 likes without saying a word.
Derek could post a photo of himself picking his nose and he would get 500 likes.  Kawakami is the most charismatic politician the state of Hawaii has ever manufactured. The people love him and he  loves the people.

Mel Rapozo put up one heck of a fight for Mayor. Rapozo, a humble man, a true mensch and a man who loves Kauai more than any person I have ever met. It's heartbreaking not seeing
Mel win after all the hard work. They say the Lord works in mysterious ways and there is a reason for everything. Although I supported Mel, Derek Kawakami is a great guy and  Kauai really cannot go wrong.

Mel Rapozo will be sorely missed
as the Council chair when his term
limits expire next month. I look forward
to Mel running again for either
 Council, Mayor or both!

(Whose that guy with the MAGA hat?)

I have heard through the coconut wireless and even at one of the mayoral debates that Derek could possibly have higher aspirations to make a run for Governor in 2022 when Governor Ige's term limits expire. I believe Kawakami is one of the most popular politicians in the state and a run for Governor is not out of the question.  Mel Rapozo will then hopefully be given his due right and time to run again for mayor, the position he so rightly deserves. They say, "the third times a charm!"

Just Imagine, 2022, Governor Kawakami and Mayor Rapozo! Talk about winning!
Congratulations to Mayor  Derek Kawakami and First lady Monica

Publisher's note;
This is election week and many important seats and issues  are at large both national, state wide and locally.
Kaua'i has a cliff hangar Mayor's race. The race is between two friends, two men that most in the community consider friends, (Mel Rapozo and Derek Kawakami) therefore many people are not coming out publicly with endorsements. I  am friends with both men but came out publicly.(came out publicly for Mayor that is! ;-)
Mel on the left,
Derek on the right...
May the best man win!

I am voting for Mel  Rapozo as Kauai's next mayor.  I believe Mel knows better how to lead and have experienced first hand Mel's response to dire situations. Whenever I have had any dilemmas  with the county in the past and contacted Mel as either a county council man or county chair the situation was always promptly resolved with positive results.
Two Good men, only room for one Mayor!   They say, "When Mel Wins, Kauai wins!"  Good luck and God bless Derek Kawakami and Mel Rapozo.
May the best man win.

Writing a letter to the editor or penning a guest column, even a regular column in
any periodical isn't what it used to be.  You open yourself up to the peanut gallery, or what  I like to refer to as "the monkeys who like to throw feces at each other." Most have degrading, negative comments raging on bullying, even though the rules in most publications say no personal attacks, no name calling and all comments must stay on topic ---many times they don't.  Whatever happened to a good civil debate where people could disagree in a humane manner?
Monkeys throwing poo? It's actually a sign of INTELLIGENCE - especially if they score a hit
https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sciencetech/article-2068645/Monkeys-throwing-poo-Its-actually-sign-INTELLIGENCE.html
My good friend Glenn Mickens dis-agrees with me politically on many issues and has  been a frequent
Glenn Mickens knows the art of
the civil debate
commenter and guest-blogger on my blog.  He never name calls or belittles anyone. He can disagree without putting one down or being a bully, a lost art in this day in age of "hatriotism"
(sic)

My two favorite publications disabled online comments for awhile, however for some reason  both decided to bring them back?
Why is beyond me? I believe they are opening themselves up to liabilities for which they cannot foresee?
Both publications have excellent editors. The editors who monitor just have to be on their toes when monitoring comments. Why do they do this when comments bring no additional advertising revenue, additionally it can take many extra hours a week to monitor every article in their periodical.

On the other hand an editorial writer must be a politician with thick skin. A writer once a lonely 'Maytag' repairman nerd is now in the firing squad and open to the harshest of criticisms while  monkeys in the zoo throw feces at your every word.

If you enjoy writing editorials,
just beware, every one of your thoughts is under a microscope.  I've spoken with a  few letter writers whom have stopped sending in letters since the comments at times have been so harsh.

Comment sections
have become the sewer line of online editions. The worst part commenters can be anonymous and use monikers, whereas letter writers, journalists and columnists must use their legal names. This is unfair,  commenters should be held to the same  scrutiny as letter writers, reporters and  columnists. Believe me, if their legal names were on these
comments they would be much more tame, sane and civil plus not be calling people some of the names I've been called---ranging from 'Nazi,' 'Dullard,' 'Idiot' 'Commie Pinko ,' and other names I won't mention...

For those whom only read the print editions, you don't know what your missing. (NOT!) At least on my own blog I am the "editor" and have the  power option of hitting delete!

A big Oy Vey to the comment sections of all periodical's!

An exclusive to dakinetalk blog!

Mel Rapozo had been falsely accused for the last 23 years due to  false reports in a book called "KPD Blue" authored by Anthony Sommers. Basically Mel was a Sergeant back with the Kaua'i police in 1995 when Monica Alves was arrested for prostitution
and two officers allegedly molested her in the Kauai police station while she also allegedly
performed lap dances while Rapozo was on duty and in charge? The incidents took place around 2:00 A.M. Rapozo left the precinct at approximately 10:45 P.M.
Sgt. Mel Rapozo (1995?)
Rapozo was cleared of all charges and  later reinstated however turned down reinstatement, which would had required him to accept a demotion to patrolman, however instead he became a private investigator. He later was elected to the Kauai County Council and eventually became after much hard work and dedication the County chair. Rapozo also works graveyard shift as a night auditor at a local resort.  Some in our community have never accepted Mel's clearance of all charges and innocence and have been very hard on Mel and his family over the years. Below is a short note form Mel and a Letter from
Patricia (Alves) Cremer that should settle this for once and for all.
James "Kimo" Rosen

"It has been 23 years of hell for my family. I actually can't believe this finally came out. I am so thankful for the Alves family for doing this. I thank God for all of his blessings." Mel Rapozo

My name is Patricia (Alves) Cremer and what I am about to say is fact, not fiction, and is on behalf of the Alves family! The victim, Monica Alves, is our niece and we want to clear up the vicious rumors against Mel Rapozo.
Mel Rapozo was not present when all that nasty things happened. We know this to be true as we have first-hand information. Before anyone makes any false allegations, we suggest that you please get the facts and not rely on false media reports and fictional books (KPD Blue).
We, the Alves family, support Mel Rapozo 100% because his vision for Kauai is for all of us. We believe that he is going to fight hard for us like he has been for the past 14 years. Think about it! This man loves Kauai just like we do, and that is the kind of Mayor Kauai needs now, more than ever!
We ask you to support Mel Rapozo with your vote because if he wins, we all win! The people will win, not special interests.
Thank you,

Patricia (Alves) Cremer,
on behalf of the Alves ohana
