Covid-19 not the only serious health issue in our community

  The world, the state, and our island are worried about the possible spread of Covid-19,

commonly known as the coronavirus. The media has many in a frenzy over what I believe will soon pass. Our elected officials on Kauai have other health concerns that need as much attention as the coronavirus and can be just as dangerous to the general public.

implicated in the transmission of many infectious diseases including cholera, typhoid, hepatitis, polio, cryptosporidiosis, ascariasis, and schistosomiasis and yet 'the Angel at the bus stop,' or as

 some refer to her, 'the lady in purple,' has been living fronting the Kapa'a neighborhood center the last 3-plus years.  She cannot walk. Therefore she relieves

herself of bodily fluids and wastes within 5 ft.  of the bus stop.  How she gets rid of her urine and fecal waste is the problem.  It accumulates and begins to reek.  

Eventually, the county will get the biochemical water truck down there to disinfect every time she is taking away in an ambulance or arrested.  She was again taken away by paramedics again last week.

She is always released from the mental wards and jails and returns to the same spot, like her

own personal 'Groundhog day'.  

Why are these shrinks releasing her? How is someone who defecates, urinates and showers in front of the public and oncoming traffic sane? How is

someone who lives at bus top 24-7 sane when she's been offered free housing by many in the community--- including a pastor I personally know.

All these medical professionals who say she is fine, need to get their heads examined and should have their medical licenses revoked.

, plus 2 different chiefs of police.  When she is arrested our judges release her without prejudice and she is back creating a health risk within inches of a county bus stop.

Folks, not only is this a health crisis, however, what happens should she die on county or state property?

Her family could easily sue

for wrongful death.  All they would need to do is find a good defense attorney like Micheal Green, the best defense attorney in the state and presto, easy payday.

I have had this discussion with many of our elected officials.  I tell them, we live in a sue-happy society and that Kauai county always rolls over and plays dead when they are sued and settles for an easy 6 figure payout. 

The coronavirus is not the only serious health issue facing our community. There is truly a health

crisis that can be prevented with the proper people in elected office.  Public urination

and defecation within inches of a public bus stop is a huge health risk to the population at large for many infectious diseases.

El  Aina cannot continue to sit out there day after day, week after week, month after month, year after year smothered in sh-t.

What if this was your friend, relative, wife, aunty, or sister? We as a community must do better, not only for her health and our health but for humanity's sake.

couple was visiting Oahu and Maui and upon returning to Japan both eventually contacted the Coronavirus also known as Covid-19 and the Wuhan virus. They may have contacted it before leaving on their trip since the virus has a 14-day incubation period. 

This means the airplane, hotels, tourist destinations, restaurants, everywhere they went on vacation is susceptible to the virus. (Those poor housekeepers that made their beds.) Some people may be carriers others not, with all the visitors from around the world traveling to Hawaii in the winter months, this is catastrophic.

Checking temperatures at the airport for arriving passengers does no good since anybody can be carrying the virus with no symptoms for 14 days.

germaphobe for many years, I quit shaking hands with people and prefer fist pumps or the Japanese custom of bowing. Be vigilant, wash your hands frequently, cover your mouth when coughing, don't touch your eyes or mouth and use a surgical mask if you're not feeling well and must go out.

I  travel on the bus and move my seat every time somebody next to me or behind me coughs or sneezes. I have noticed many employees in the supermarkets, big box stores, and local restaurants coughing and clearing their throats. This makes me paranoid and makes me wonder if we are heading towards a plague?

Governor needs to be vigilant and ground all flights from Asian countries coming and going to Hawaii until such time that there is a vaccine or cure for the Coronavirus or the virus dissipates itself.

66,000 people have been diagnosed with the virus and 1500 have died as of this writing so far from the Coronavirus. The internet is filled with jokes about the virus.

Although not a joking matter, it helps many get through these trying times. 

Then again with all the natural disasters we have seen almost daily on the news, it would not surprise me to see a plague-- since many believe we are living at the end of times, and biblical prophecy is finally coming to fruition.

 A Doctor's advice about coronavirus:
Mahalo to Chester Lau, AKA, 'Unc' for this public service announcement!
1. It is pretty large in size (cell is about 400-500nm diameter), so any normal mask (not just the  N95 feature) should be able to filter it out. However, when someone who's infected sneezes in front of you, it will take a great 3 meters (about 10 feet) before it drops to the ground and is no longer airborne. 
2. When the virus drops on a metal surface, it will live for at least 12 hours. So remember if you come in contact with any metal surface, wash your hands with soap thoroughly. 
3. The virus can remain active on fabric for 6-12 hours. Normal laundry detergent should kill the virus. For winter clothing that does not require daily washing, you can put it out under the sun to kill the virus. 
About the symptoms of pneumonia caused by Coronavirus:
1. It will first infect the throat, so the throat will have the dry sore throat feeling which will last for 3 to 4 days
2. Then the virus will blend into the nasal fluid and drips into the trachea and enter the lungs, causing pneumonia. This process will take 5 to 6 days.    
3. With pneumonia, comes high fever and difficulty in breathing. The nasal congestion is not like the normal kind. You will feel like you are drowning in water. It's important to go seek immediate medical attention if you feel like this. 
About prevention:
1. The most common way of getting infected is by touching things in public, so you must wash your hands frequently. The virus can only live on your hands for 5-10 mins, but a lot can happen in those 5-10 mins (you can rub your eyes or pick your nose unwittingly).
2. Aside from washing your hands frequently, you can gargle with Betadine Sore Throat Gargle to eliminate or minimize the germs while they are still in your throat (before dripping down to your lungs). 
Folks, take extra care and drink plenty of water.

Costco scores the game-winning touchdown

  My money is always on Costco for the win. The oddsmakers in Vegas don't even count

Costco in the odds when it comes time for the Super Bowl, as far as I'm concerned Costco always comes out a winner with its cult following spending millions on the week that precedes Super Bowl Sunday.

Mark your calendars, for myself as a Costco cult member and Costco junkie Super Bowl samples now start on Wednesday’s of Super Bowl week-

not like in the past when It

It was all week long. If you've never gone to Costco the week before the Super Bowl for samples, it's worth the membership fee within itself.

There's a chicken wing station with 6 different kinds of wings, Buffalo, Terriaki,

Korean spice, Honey Barbeque, Tequilla Lime and Hot 'n Spicy.

People were jonesing to get into the store all week long for  Super Bowl week for food samples.

Starting time is approximately 11:00 AM and goes until 4:00 P.M until Saturday of the week preceding the Super Bowl. There are many other goodies like miniature tacos, chicken apple sausage, teriyaki meatballs, an array of chips, dips, and hummus, and so many other things I could get to because I had a bus to catch and was

on a tight schedule.

No matter what team wins the Super Bowl there is always one true winner year and year. Costco food samples not only win in Taste but in customer service and Aloha.
