The most difficult part of being a council member is not blowing your cool  and punching out the many nut cases that continually testify against everything and anything. Whatever you call them contrarians, nitpickers or senile, there's no getting rid of them.

I Finally came to the  realization why our county council  member's make $58,000 a year for what is deemed a part time job on paper.

I live-stream the county council meetings on my computer and with an HDMI cord connected to my TV watch all the council meetings live.

The most difficult part of being a council member is not blowing your cool and punching out the many nut cases that continually testify against everything and anything. Whatever you call them, contrarians, nitpickers or senile, there's no denying  them.

Our council members have turned into behavior psychologists by keeping their cool when every instinct would be to knockout a good majority of the  one's testifying. Week after week of having to listen to such garbage as,"if Jay Furfaro is the chair, why isn't Tim Bynum the couch?, or my favorite used by quite a few,"you guys should all be tarred and feathered..." Council members hold back in their retorts for legal reasons and in hopes of re-election with not wanting to offend anyone. However you know they are aching to retort with wise cracks such as , if we were tarred and feathered we'd look just like your mother.

I believe our council members should  earn honorary doctorate (PHd) degrees for the sole fact of keeping their mouth shut when every human instinct would say otherwise.  The constant stammer of residents  repeating  blah, blah, blah and  yada, yada, yada would drive me crazy.

I don't often compliment politicians, however I must congratulate the Kaua'i County Council for all they have to put up with.  In closing I would like to say blah, blah, blah and yada, yada. yada...

Bring an end to war

I won’t even argue with you about the number of American deaths, certainly all of us are thankful fewer and fewer of our gallant troops are killed in these wars.

But aren't you forgetting the dreadful wounds — mental, spiritual and physical — our men and women suffer?

Not everyone takes to killing innocent men, women and children — thank goodness — and the number of senseless innocent deaths in the Middle East is appalling.

Further, you forget the way wars are waged by us today is very different from the way wars were waged in the past.

More and more expensive mindless killing machines.

More and more profit to those involved in the business of producing these killing machines.

The military/industrial complex flourishes, our people and our nation suffer. Is that how we should be spending our tax dollars?

If you remember “The victor always takes on the trappings of the vanquished,” you will understand where and why we are today.

Those of us on the left introduce these human factors into the equation and know it doesn’t add up.

Stop the war.

 Bring our troops home.

Clean house.

Feed and educate kids

Take care of the poor, the elderly and the sick.

Peace and love.

"The World Is A Burial Ground..." 'James "Kimo" Rosen'

There are many unmarked graves in Hawaii.
.The question remains,should projects be stopped because of it?

Nothing seems to ever get  done in Hawaii since every time  a project or construction job is approved and gone through all the legal hurdles and votes,  there's always the activist who finds a buried bone over some construction or project site.

The reality is that  it would seem every road we drive probably has some human remains  buried under neath it. Why are so many worried about the multi-use  trail in Wailua when nobody seems worried about the thousands of cars driving the same area daily?

Nobody seems worried about the many buried at sea and millions of human ashes scattered in our oceans. Let's face it, the longer this world exists the more bodies will be buried and cremated. Should we also cease all ocean activity because so many of our ancestor's remains  are scattered in Oceans around the world?

Burial grounds are for the living not the dead.  Most religions and philosophies believe you go on to a better place and  your afterlife is nowhere near where  you are buried or your ashes scattered.

I do understand the opposition, but just feel the world is a burial ground and if this argument wins it  will be near impossible to build anything new in the future.

Petting a service  dog without permission is like groping another fellow man or woman without permission, or  touching someones baby without permission. What makes people think they can kiss and pet a stranger's animal?

Service dogs are mostly associated with giving aid to blind people, but a service dog can also offer Psychiatric service. These dogs are classified PSDs. "(Psychiatric Service Dogs) When you come across a service dog, please do not pet, call, talk, kiss or otherwise distract it as doing so could put the handlers life in jeopardy     http://neurotalk.psychcentral.com/showthread.php?t=7204

When someone  asks to pet my dog, I say "NO," because she is a "service dog," plus I am a germophobic. I don't want someone who may have a cold, flu virus or smelly hands petting my dog.

 These are working animals, not pets and they are out with their handlers to help them, not to be a spectacle for the public. Please note it is rude to ask a  disabled person what their disability is, as that is personal and confidential information.

Service dogs need to know who their  master's are. People with service dogs are  not  portable petting zoos. 
Remember to ask permission before petting any ones pet.

                                           New Year’s resolutions

I don’t really know when the idea of a new year resolution came to pass but it seems to be a tradition that many of us still make every year.  Usually it is about losing weight or getting a new job or becoming a better person.  These notions usually last for maybe the first month of the year and then we are back to our old selves.  

It seems that the bigger picture here is that one assumes that we are generally unhappy with ourselves and feel the need for change.  Why not just make this resolutions thing an ongoing way to live our lives.  When we step on the scale and it is slowly rising, cut back on the food intake.  If we find ourselves unsatisfied with our employment situation, don’t wait until the first of the year…make a change for the present.  If you feel you could be a better person to yourself and others, start today.

  Every day should be lived as though it were the first of the year; don’t wait, make a change for the better today. We are given only one life to live, make the most of it and make it mean something for yourself and for others.

A Pastor was presenting a children's sermon. During the sermon, he asked the children if they knew what the resurrection was?

Now, asking questions during children's sermons is crucial, but at the same time, asking children questions in front of a congregation can also be very dangerous.

Having asked the children if they knew the meaning of the resurrection, a little boy raised his hand. The pastor called on him and the little boy said, "I know that if you have a resurrection that lasts more than four hours you are supposed to call the doctor."It took over ten minutes for the congregation to settle down enough from their laughter for the worship service to be continued.

From Unc!

"Glorifying the Life of a Serial Killer..." 'James "Kimo" Rosen'

Should we have more gun control, should we have armed guards at
all public schools, should the mentally insane be banned from purchasing firearms,
should TV shows like Dexter which glorifies the life of a serial killer be allowed on TV?

Gun reform will not stop madmen and woman from  killing. In the Middle east suicide bombers often get on public buses or go into populated restaurants, shopping malls, schools  and sports events with suicide bombs strapped onto their bodies. Anybody can Google on how to make a bomb, cell phones can be used to detonate the bombs. 

Gun control will only stop innocent people from possessing guns, the criminally and insane will still find ways to obtains guns, just as the drug addict finds ways to support their sorry habits. 

There is  A TV series on cable called "Dexter" which glorifies the life of a serial killer. This is just one of numerous examples in the media that lead to our societies violent actions.

Should we have more gun control, should we have armed guards at

should TV show's like Dexter  be allowed on TV?

Gun control is not the only answer in stopping innocent people from being massacred, Society needs to change, guns don't kill, people kill. 

On the lighter side, to the woman who was upset Santa was packing a gun, did she ever stop to ponder that maybe Santa was just happy to see her?
