"Glorifying the Life of a Serial Killer..." 'James "Kimo" Rosen'

Should we have more gun control, should we have armed guards at
all public schools, should the mentally insane be banned from purchasing firearms,
should TV shows like Dexter which glorifies the life of a serial killer be allowed on TV?

Aloha, check out my opinion article in today's (01-05-13) Kaua'i Garden Island news,"A shift in society, not gun control, is the solution."

http://thegardenisland.com/news/opinion/mailbag/letters-for-saturday-january/article_66f342ca-56ea-11e2-a7ea-0019bb2963f4.html

Gun reform will not stop madmen and woman from  killing. In the Middle east suicide bombers often get on public buses or go into populated restaurants, shopping malls, schools  and sports events with suicide bombs strapped onto their bodies. Anybody can Google on how to make a bomb, cell phones can be used to detonate the bombs.

Gun control will only stop innocent people from possessing guns, the criminally and insane will still find ways to obtains guns, just as the drug addict finds ways to support their sorry habits.

There is  A TV series on cable called "Dexter" which glorifies the life of a serial killer. This is just one of numerous examples in the media that lead to our societies violent actions.

Should we have more gun control, should we have armed guards at
all public schools, should the mentally insane be banned from purchasing firearms,
should TV show's like Dexter  be allowed on TV?

Gun control is not the only answer in stopping innocent people from being massacred, Society needs to change, guns don't kill, people kill.

On the lighter side, to the woman who was upset Santa was packing a gun, did she ever stop to ponder that maybe Santa was just happy to see her?

via facebook,"You're continuing on with your junk about TV and movies creating murderers, even though you know the data shows otherwise? I guess we should suspend the First Amendment to save the NRA interpretation of the Second Amendment. Anything else you think is dangerous on TV we should ban, maybe opinions that differ from the president's because they cause dissent which leads to terrorism? Maybe not show pregnant women because girls will run out and get pregnant? How about not showing game shows because it promotes gambling, or cooking shows because people might burn themselves?"

Chuck I admit it doesn't effect yours or my mind, it's others I worry about...

They no longer show smoking in most movies, why? because you know why!

Is it really an either/or dichotomy?
Can we have REASONABLE control of ASSAULT WEAPONS and high-capacity extended magazines and clips AND address the social, cultural and mental health factors?

the also no longer show nose picking. Gosh, I miss those closeups

via facebook "They don't show smoking because people complained who think seeing people smoke makes people smoke. I think they should show movies only about working hard and paying taxes, then we'd be more productive."

via facebook,"You don't have to worry about other minds. Studies are clear - violence in media and games reduce real life violence. Reduce."
