Today I am going over check lists and taking off work to make sure everything is set for the big day…in just 3 short days my oldest son will be getting married and we will start a new chapter in our life.

 Our lives seem to be defined by the many events that we pass through; marriage, births, deaths  etc. The marriage of a child is one of the biggest life changing occurrences’ in our lives.  Our sons moved out of the house a long time ago and that was an adjustment to live in the empty nest rattling around in  their empty rooms.  Although our children grow up and become independent people, they will always be our children to worry about no matter what the age.  Their sorrows become ours and their happiness only makes us feel happier.  Children are ours  forever no matter what the age and we never stop worrying about them.  

When our boys were born I thought it was our job to help them grow up into contributing adults and then we could sit back and enjoy them.  But the worry never stops because we always want our children to be happy.  

I hope and pray that this new chapter in our sons life brings him more happiness than words can express  because as our family grows we are so  blessed to partake in this special event in all of our lives.

 Aloha Folks, I realized that I haven't guest-blogged for a while.  Here's an update.

My wife and I went up the coast for a vacation about the middle of October.  When we got back we had one day to decompress, then flew to Vegas to join her sister and brother-in-law.  While in Vegas my right eye started to have sharp pains.  We came back on a Friday and I got worse that day and the next.  The right side of my head and neck were terribly painful.  On Sunday I went to the E.R. and had an MRI to check for a brain aneurysm.

Doctor sent me home with a bunch of Vicodin.  Monday my right eye was almost swollen shut.  Went to see an ophthalmologist who took one look at me and said, "You've got shingles."  Fortunately not in my eye or on my retina.  Gave me strong antibiotics.  Third dose had me dry-heaving.  Got a new prescription on Tuesday and have taken that for about ten days.  A lot of the pain is gone; a lot is still there.  Swelling around my eye is gone.

Anyhow, I doubt I'll be contributing any articles to your blog anytime soon.  I will try to get something to you about once a month, but first I need to get fully well.   I also need to get back to my own writing, which I have neglected greatly.

So, there you are.  Hope you never get this terrible disease.

My father always said,"It was a good day if he didn't see his name in the obituaries."

I always thought that sounded so ridiculous. Now that I'm nearing the big 6-0 and am seeing on a regular basis many friends and associates leaving us, I  too say, "It's a good day when I don't see my name in the obituaries.

On the contrary it's even a better day when I see my name in the Letters section.

This blog is a letter of thanks to Kaua'i County Director of Parks and Recreation, Mr. Lenny Rapozo for taking action on making swimming in the local public pool a safer environment.  Remember  your local, state and national public servants are there to serve. Write them with your concerns. I was pleasantly surprised with the immediate action that took place on Kaua'i. The letter of thanks below speaks for itself!

A big Mahalo Nui (Big Thanks) to the Kaua'i County Director of Parks and recreation, Mr. Lenny Rapozo for caring enough about safety for our keiki (children) and re-instituting the use of lane lines at Kapa'a Public Pool.

Before the lane lines were re-introduced there was a constant sense of disarray by both lap swimmers and our keiki. The lap swimmers dreaded keiki jumping on them and many of our keiki and their parents dreaded the potential of head on collisions in the water. What was once a potential accident waiting to happen is now a much safer, sound and secure environment at Kapa'a public pool.

Thanks to Mr. Lenny Rapozo there is now an added sense of security and safety for all.

Interview with the Moron...

…..ooops, that’s Moroni. He’s the messenger from god who first appeared, according to Joseph Smith the founder of the Church of the Later Day Saints, on the 21st of September in 1823.  Joseph was 18 years old.

As you know I've interviewed many gods. Had a great party on Saturday, May 21, last year when everybody on the planet who was good guys-144,000 of”em- would be raptured up to heaven mit’out’der underpants. A bunch of the gods and I took shots at them as they flapped their fat and skinny asses off to heaven. Eros actually got one. Everyone got drunk and had a good time. Happy to see them off.

Ceaser Augustus and Jesus spun yarns at the bar as Hestia and I cleaned up the mess.

This would be the first time I ever interviewed a messenger from god and I hoped he appeared to me as he appeared to Joseph. Again I quote, “He had on a loose robe of the most exquisite whiteness. it was whiteness beyond anything earthly I had ever seen.”

Moroni called Joseph by name, introduced himself and told him god had work for him to do. He told him about a book written on gold plates and gave him an accounting of “former inhabitants on this continent”.

Moroni also quoted some passages from the Bible. Third chapter Malachi: “For behold, the day cometh that shall turn as an oven. and all the proud, yea, and all that do wickedly shall burn as stubble; for they that come shall burn them, saith the Lord of Hosts, that it shall leave them neither root nor branch.”

I looked it up and couldn't find it in my King James Version. Guess I'll have to ask him about that, too.

Now a good journalist, which I do not pretend to be-but I try- does her homework. Is prepared with questions. Knows the subject. So I searched Joseph’s chronicles for more stuff about this guy.

Again quoting Joseph, he said, “…the fullness of the Gentiles was soon to come.” Now this one stopped me. Gentile? What is the correct definition? “A person of a non-Jewish nation, non-Jewish faith, especially a  Christian as distinguished from a Jew.”

Well I must ask about that.

Something else that bothered me was the gender thing. I mean the JW’s have women in the field thumping. The Morons always have a pair of guys in black pants and white shirts pushing their version.

Fortunately I had dark glasses on when the apparition appeared. Blinding. A voice from hell. I fell to my knees.

“Mormons are not Morons. What I quote is the word of GOD. Let’s keep the gentile thing out of this. As for females. Mormon females are the best cooks, house cleaners and breeders on the planet. if you want a good female who can cook and clean and breed, marry one and have lots of kids.”

It zapped me a good one across the head before it left. Actually i saw no figure but I guess I got my answer.

"Voting..!" 'James "kimo" Rosen'

Why is it  that voting in Political elections is so confusing stressful and mis-managed. There are always accusations of fraud by the losing side and many will say they were turned away.

American Idol, Dancing with the stars and many  popular reality shows have voters call in to vote  and the results are instantaneous.

America needs to adopt a simple to way to vote from home using your phone or computer.  Many have suggested using ATM's at your local bank! Afterall if ATM's are trusted with all that money, why not trust the same technology with voting?

I have a simple solution, one vote per Social security number. You would call or go to a web page and enter your social security number, follow directions from there and vote. No more waiting in lines and staying  up all night or sometimes waiting days for the  election results.

 Voting as we now know it  has to change. If the reality shows  can do it, so can America.

America seems to have turned into the Divided states of America, we are no longer united as our founding-fathers once  intended.

No matter what happens in the election, half the country will stand divided, whether it's on abortion, gay rights, women's right to chose,  war or how to rebuild the economy...

Democrats and Republicans all need to take a lesson  in doing what's right(pono) for the people. The recent  bipartisan actions of President Obama and N.J. Governor Chris Christie speak volumes in  crossing party lines and working together like adults for the benefit of the people.

Disasters seem to bring people together, in times of disaster we are not Republican or Democrat but rather American.

Sad to say,  'Sandy 'is exactly what America needed, not a divider but rather a uniter.

There is still hope!

Tomorrow, before you vote, look in a mirror. If you see a corporation, my friend, vote for Romney. If you see a person, vote for President Obama!
