Who Will Get to the Pearly Gates

Dolly Parton ,the one with the big boobs or Queen Elizabeth, the one with the small boobs went to the Pearly Gates on the same day.

They both met with an angel to find out if they would be admitted to Heaven.
The angel said: "Unfortunately, there's only one space in Heaven today so I must decide which one of you will be admitted."
The angel asked Dolly if there was some particular reason why she should go to Heaven? Dolly took off her top and said: "Look at these, they're the most perfect breasts God ever created and I'm sure it will please God to be able to see them every day, for eternity."

The angel thanked Dolly, and asked Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth the same question.

The Queen walked over to a toilet, pulled the lever and flushed it without saying a word.

The Angel immediately said: "OK, your Majesty, you may go into Heaven."

Dolly was outraged and asked, "What was that all about? I showed you two of God's own perfect creations and you turned me down. She simply flushed a commode and she got admitted to Heaven! Would you explain that to me?

"Sorry, Dolly," said the Angel, "but even in Heaven, a royal flush beats a pair - no matter how big they are."

The election is over

Have you heard where the Democrats want the electoral college to do a recount on Dec. 19, 2016 and make Hillary the President?

Well, I want to do a recount form every super bowl that my favorite team did not win the Vince Lombardi trophy.

Everybody does not get a trophy.

Breaking news; therapy dogs are  being prescribed more than Prozac and the art stores cannot keep crayons and coloring books on the shelves.

Hillary conceded, the election is over. Unless of course  we can change the score of every NFL gamer played last week?

P.S.
I'm glad I drink diet coke or generic cola that ison sale, never was a Pepsi person!
Pepsi owns Gatorade, Lay's potato chips, Frito's, Doritos and Cheetos.
This woman,Indra Nooyi
has already out sourced most of their
hi-tech work to an Indian consortium
so she would look good to her countrymen,
however she wasted a lot of money and hurt a
lot of American workers.

Trump is our captain, and is on our side

Donald Trump single-handedly took on the failing Republican party. He won the Republican primary being the last man standing out of 17 candidates. While key Republicans and ex-presidents told him he was nuts and could not succeed and pledged not to vote for him. The mainstream media made him to look like a non-candidate. Donald Trump has reinvented the Republican party and finally the Republicans realize his genius and now has the speaker of the house Paul Ryan acting as his lap dog after being an enemy for so many months.
Trump owns over 500 businesses from real estate in numerous countries and is a reality TV star. You cannot discount this man’s genius of employing tens of thousands of people and supplying livelihoods for them and their families.
America needs to give President-elect Trump a chance. Why all the protesting before he even steps foot in office? The Democrats need to get a grip and accept the loss. Remember, there were many people who voted Obama in 2008 and 2012, whom also voted for Trump. Many forget this statistic.
Many of the liberals seem to be the most intolerant (alleged tolerant) people I have ever seen.
Remember John Lennon’s song, “Give peace a chance?”
I say to all the protesters who are protesting nothing thus far:
Just give Trump (Peace) a chance!
I think you will be pleasantly surprised. Mr.Trump’s ego is too big to do anything besides be successful!
President-elect Trump is our captain, our leader and is on our side! He is the guy you wanted as the leader of your little league team. He’s not the guy you wanted to play against. Folks, we’ve got him on our team!

"Husband Wanted..." 'Ivanka Da Dog' (Source)

Ivanka Da Dog is a life long resident of Hawaii.
Ivanka can be seen cruising Kapa'a town
with her best friend James "Kimo" Rosen!
Hope you smile or laugh after reading this!

 Husband Wanted

A lonely 70-year-old widow decided that it was time to marry again. She put an ad in the local newspaper that read: "Husband wanted! Must be in my age group, must not beat me, must not run around on me and must still be good in bed. All applicants please apply in person."

The following day, she heard the doorbell. Much to her dismay, she opened the door to see a gray-haired gentleman sitting in a wheelchair. He had no arms or legs.

"You're not really asking me to consider you, are you?" the widow asked: "Just look at you -- you have no legs!"

The old gent smiled: "Therefore, I cannot run around on you!"

"You don't have any arms either!" she snorted.

Again, the old man smiled: "Therefore, I can never beat you!"

She raised an eyebrow and asked intently: "Are you still good in bed?"

The old man leaned back, beamed a big smile and said: "I rang the doorbell, didn't I?"

Facebook, Politics, God and Fact checking

People come onto my Facebook Timeline at times with harsh criticisms.

A Facebook Timeline is not a newspaper or blog. A Facebook timeline is your home, your living room so to speak where you have invited friends to visit you on Facebook.

I never go onto a friends Facebook page no matter how much I may disagree with them and start an argument or say harsh words to them  because they may have posted something political or otherwise I may disagree with. Instead I say nothing.

I would never say nasty comments to those whom don't believe in the same God or political beliefs as myself. I may totally disagree with you but your living room (Facebook timeline)is not the place to do it. The only time I may do so is if someone posts a false news story I may send them the corrected  fact check from Snopes or other mostly reliable fact checkers.

Newspapers and public forums are the place to release your aggression not on a friends Facebook page even though they may have a difference of opinion.

Social media  with so many fake news stories has not helped matters. People need to fact check before sharing and re-posting a news story or meme just because it fits their political agendas.

I can handle criticism and over the years have developed a thick skin from being an opinion columnist in the Garden Island news and a blogger. I candle the criticism however people's Timelines  deserve respect. Remember you are visiting a friends living room.

I think the world was a better place before social media, people didn't think out loud which has gotten so many of us in trouble including me. Respect has been lost in social media and in friendships.

Maybe it's time we did what we did as kids--just go over a friends house without calling and see if they want just want to go out and play.

"Through Thick and Thin-Happy Anniversary..!" 'Judith Whitehead' (inspiration Friday)

Through Thick and Thin--Happy Anniversary

This week marks our 42nd wedding anniversary.
Dakinetalk blog wishes the Whiteheads
Mazol Tov and another
42 years  through thick and thin!

I reflect in amazement how so many years have gone by and  how we have persevered through the good and bad times.

They have all made us stronger for it.

Now a days many couples don't know or want to know how to take the good with the bad times.  It's too "hard" for them to compromise and agree to disagree.   My husband and I don't agree on everything and still manage to make it work.  Compromise is the key word.  He still tells everyone he is still a "work in progress".

The secret to keeping a marriage going--compromise, like and love- working thru the tough times and always being the strength needed when the other spouse is in need.

After so many years my husband and I seem to have morphed into one another; still leading independent lives but reading each others minds in many ways.

Judith and Steve
Happy 42nd Anniversary!

So here's to 42 years of compromise, love and marriage.   We decided to celebrate this year by going to a concert on our anniversary- the great Joe Bonamassa will be performing at Sheas theater and we are so looking forward to it.

"To all my Facebook friends..." 'Carrie Kneubuhl-Eckert' (Special post Election edition)

Carrie Kneubuhl-Eckert  whom currently

resides in  La Quinta, California.
Formerly  a resident of Kapa'a Kaua'i for 5 years.
Carrie is an artist and animal rights activist.
Carrie prides herself with being friends to people that are friendly to others.
She is Republican and proud of it.
Her family has served for the United States in many capacities over the years.
Many of her friends work for the U.S.government as well.

To all my Facebook  friends

I have personally had enough of the back and forth and nasty emails I have received between my friends on this election. I thought that it would be over once the election was over. But I can see that is not the case.

President elect Trump won the race. It is over. I will not continue RESPONDING to every democratic friends post that continues to divide the people who voted for Trump. Every time Trump looks sideways someone has to post a criticism of him. The nasty post about his wife and family are sickening. How low can we go? (I never remember this happening to Barack Obama and his family which we had to endure for 8 years) Many people didn't like the Obama administration. And many thought Hillary was corrupt and was caught lying too many times to vote for the person with experience in politics. Apparently half of the USA that voted didn't either despite the huge media and big money that pushed for her presidency. (Please don't post back to split the hairs on that)

So I say to my friends that voted for Trump. As the media so well pointed it out again and again, Let's take Hillary Clinton's or Michelle Obama's words to Donald Trump, and to take the" high road" instead of the "low road" and stop the perpetuating the division between those who voted for Trump and those of you who did not.

I cannot waste my time any longer with rebutting their posts about their hated and micro managing at every blink Trump makes. All this does is continue to separate the people of this country and promote hate between us. If this is the America they don't foresee they don't want, ( because nothing has happened yet to affect them) then let them be unhappy that the system did not work in their favor everyday. Then let them continue their life being consumed with negativity and not letting the country move forward. I can't participate in this banter back and forth any longer. I have a life to live and I want it to be happy and positive.

You have not even given President elect Trump the courtesy of doing his job yet. I say lets see what happens. REMEMBER, No president has ever kept all their promises!!

If I continue to see constant posting from people who are not willing to give freedom a chance under our voting laws and who want to post negative rants every opportunity they have which is your right. I want you to know, that will not be participating in your posts or responding. I do not want my life to be consumed with nitpicking posts. My wish is that people will stop perpetuating the divide in this country. The media already does a fantastic job of negative reporting of people.

My wish is that the people would let the man do the job he was elected to do. I want him to succeed, and I would hope all Americans would want him to succeed for our country.

Remember, in every relationship you are not going to love or like everything that person does. But we have to look at the overall good in people and turn that into a positive. I hope America heals and stops promoting hate. And that goes for both sides!
GOD BLESS AMERICA!

"Where is the leadership on Kaua'i..?" 'Glenn Mickens' (Kauai county watchdog)

Glenn Mickens has lived on Kauai  with his wife Ruth for the last 26 years. Born July 26, 1930 in Wilmar, California, USA) was a pitcher in Major League Baseball. He pitched in four games (two of which were starts) for the 1953 Brooklyn Dodgers. He also played for five years in Japan, from 1959 until 1963 for the Kintetsu Buffaloes. There, he compiled a record of 45–53 with a 2.54 ERA.  Glenn also  served in the Army for 2 years and coached baseball at UCLA for 25 years.
Last but not least Glenn would really like to see Kaua'i give the county manager style of Government a chance.
Above photo of Glenn Mickens courtesy of Kauai Garden island news, used with permission...

Mr. Mickens is locally known
as one of Kauai county's
political watchdogs
and Nitpickers...
Mahalos Glenn!
Where is the leadership on Kaua'i

In his recent column in TGI Jerome "Da Shadow" Frietas asks a number of good questions (to our elected officials) that get either vague answers or no answers at all. And, remember that Jerome is one of the most dedicated, volunteers for public safety that this Island has ever had---using his own time and money uncovering problems that need attention.
"The Shadow"(Jerome Frietas)
"Is one of the most dedicated volunteers
for public safety this island
has ever had."

Glenn Mickens

His one question, "At the intersection of Kukui St and Ulu in Kapaa, the intersection road surface is very bad. Can this intersection road (heavily used) be improved EVEN ON A TEMPORARY BASIS (emphasis added) until road resurfacing can be done?"

Answer. " Public works will investigate this concern and schedule if necessary."

REALLY! This intersection has been in horrible shape for years and we now hear public works say they will investigate this concern and schedule if necessary!!!!
Mahalo Outgoing county council.
Gary Hooser and Kipu Kai
Kuulili were voted out
by the slightest margins
and replaced with Derek Kawakami
and Arthur Brun!
Congratulations to new comers Brun
and Kawakami!

When Olohena road was recently resurfaced from the round-a-bout to Kapaa middle school, Grace Pacific (the contractor who won the roads repaving bid) verbally told me that it would be far more economical to pave this intersection (about 100 yards from where they repaved) while their equipment was there than if they had to come back--a simple change order was all it would take. With a job that needed doing and with savings to be made what happened--nothing, absolutely nothing.

So while auto tires and front ends are being ruined, we drivers keep wondering where our gas tax, registration fees, and weight tax are going and gross inefficiency continues. Our roads continue to be the worst in the state and yet our elected officials refuse to use section 3.17 of our Charter to fully investigate and correct this glaring problem as well as many more.
Aliomanu road hazard.
When is it going to be fixed?

(From The Shadow's Facebook page)

Where is the leadership on Kauai---administrative or legislative? We watch both branches of government point the finger at each other over whose problem it is with stagnation taking place and nothing getting done FOR THE PEOPLE!. Traffic, new development with no infrastructure in place to handle it, no true low income housing, no new landfill, homeless people and on and on.

We had a golden opportunity to reverse this Island's downward spiral by getting a County Manager style of government on the ballot for a vote of the people. But politics, lack of will and a legal problem that could have been easily solved stopped it and the problems continue. A few council members are still willing to pursue getting a Manager and are certainly to be commended for their efforts. And, ironically, none of those who oppose trying this new style of government have any other solution  to offer.

And, Shadow, keep up your great work and doing all you can to hold those responsible for tacking care of the safety problems that we citizens deserve.
